Can I install stone veneer as a backsplash and under the bar of my kitchen?
My husband really love the look of the stone veneer and want to put it in our kitchen going from the bar and extended into the backsplash of our kitchen. The only thing is I’m pretty sure we can’t just slap it on the drywall. How would we go about securing it to the drywall we have now? Do we have to rip out the drywall and install something else? Any information would help thank you! Oh and we would really like to do it ourselves to keep costs down.

You can adhere it right to the dry wall using what ever is recommended by the maker. Usually its a modified thin set or some times a mastic but check to be sure. Basic cleaning is all thats usually needed. GL
You can put it over the drywall. Just TSP or use a sanding deglosser on it and then apply your mortar or thinset.

are you talking cultured (fake) stone in the kitchen? never a good idea…hard to clean and would get very greasy over the years…but if you do it you will need to hang your mesh first and then cement your stones….your brand of stone will come with its own instructions…
