Does anyone know how to pick paint colors? I need help!?
I am buying my first home in two days and my husband wants to paint before we move in because I am pregnant. I am having a horrible time picking the paint for the living room and kitchen which are joined. My furniture is brown and I wanted green for the living room but my kitchen is going to have black appliances and red items in it and I don’t want it to look to Christmas-y. The trim throughout the home is light oak, which we want to keep. Can someone please help me? I have terrible color coordination skills and this is totally stressing me out.
Here are pictures of the rooms below.
Thanks!

Very nice!
Honestly, I would use the green for an accent wall at the far end of the living room, or for accent pillows, etc. With red and black in the kitchen, I would go for a nice, light, warm cafe-au-lait or dulce-de-leche tone. I understand that you want the living room and kitchen walls the same colour, as they connect.
See the wall colour in this image (and how black and red look in the space)… http://www.hgtv.com/designers-portfolio/room/traditional/kitchens/1622/index.html
I would do a light sage green for your living room, something light and airy that won’t feel like it’s weighing you down when you’re trying to relax in front of the tv. And for your kitchen I would do maybe a light gold/light brown color. You can find color swatches and put them next to each other…
And good luck with your baby as well!

maybe that would help you out? Hope this helps a little bit!
P.S. If you’re going to paint, might want to choose a water base paint instead of latex so the fumes won’t be as bad.
