Does it seem cheap to have the reception in a clubhouse?
So I am getting married in March (OMG!) I’m really excited. Anyway, my fiance and I are paying for everything and we’re on a tight budget, so we found this really nice garden park where we can have the wedding ceremony, they also cater and hold receptions, the only thing is that their reception room is WAY more than we care to spend on it. So our apartment complex has a really nice club house, it has a full kitchen, a bar area, a HUGE fireplace, chairs and couches, a big screen tv, the works. We were thinking of having our reception there. We are only have 30 people including us to both the ceremony and the reception. Our wedding will also be at 9am with a continental b-fast at the reception. So at the club house we would decorate to fit my black and white/bride and groom theme, and have the wedding favors placed here and there for people to take. How does that sound, do you think it sounds too cheap?

Ashley,
It is NOT ghetto as the first poster said. To be quite honest, I think it sounds perfect! I know there are many apartment complexes with really, really nice clubhouses and yours sounds like one of them!
I would have the fireplace going (if possible) even though it’s morning. Yes, decorate with your black/white theme. Simple ideas would be a black vase with some white flowers. Or, a low bowl with black stones in the bottom and a black floating candle. Very elegant.
If you budget allows, try to get real tablecloths (instead of plastic ones). That would look great. You can buy disposable "linen look" tablecloths:

If you budget does not allow, then just go with the plastic ones.
Again, it’s NOT ghetto. It sounds lovely!
Wow. ghetto.
Dont worry about the idea of something being "cheap". You know what you can afford and what you want. These people that spend thousands and thousands of dollars on weddings and receptions only do it to impress others, why do you have to feed a bunch of people? You do what you want, keep it simple and be HAPPY!!!! Thats all that really matters!
I think is a great idea. With only 30 guests, my guess is that you will only be inviting family members and the closest of friends. Go for it, it sounds lovely and the place seems to be awsome.
Good luck and congrats
I think because of your small numbers and the time of your wedding it’s doable. You have a lot more leeway with a small guest list which is nice. Also because of the 9am wedding I think a club house is fine. If it was an afternoon wedding I don’t think the club house would work for a dinner but for a informal breakfast it should be ok.
It seems like a good idea to me.
Sticking to your budget is important. Keep at it!
Sounds perfectly fine, especially for a small morning wedding. If you decorate and, as someone else said, use real tableclothes, china and cutlery, it won’t look cheap. Congratulation on keeping it simple and budget-friendly!
