It is in your control panel then multmedia or speakers and they you will not see a check mark in show volume control click on the square and you get the check mark and maybe apply,ok and you will get the volume control back.

Open the Control Panel and pick the Sound and Multimedia section. Check the box that says "Show VolumeControl on Task Bar"

its easy first go to the start and click on control panel. after that click on sound,speech and audio devices, click… and than u click on adjust the system valume… it will open a new window(sounds and audio devices properties) click on volume-there are two box -click on place volume icon on my taskbar and it should work like it used to… i hope its working for u
Easy
Click on Start>Settings>Control Panel>Sound and Audio Contorllers, check the place volume icon on taskbar then click ok and your done
