How do I make my bedroom in my new apartment have an Asian theme?
The only furniture I have is a full mattress and a stool for the breakfast bar. I’m starting with the bedroom and then I’ll move onto the living room and dining area.
My mom bought me this when we were shopping and I said it was cute http://walmart.com/catalog/product_id=13269233
So I would like it to match this.
I can paint but I can’t change the white carpet.
What window treatment would be good for the sliding glass door? I don’t like the vertical blinds that are on it now.
What kind of bed should I get and will black furniture work? I heard that platform beds are good for an Asian theme. Is that true?
For the most part I want the Asian part to come from accents like a sword that I have and a tea set. I’ll add more things as I find them.

But
Think bamboo shades OR a Shoji folding screen in front of the window. Plants in baskets. Yes a platform bed. Target sells this lamp in both floor and bedside http://www.kaboodle.com/reviews/square-floor-lamp-with-shelves–black-beige
A tatami mat over the white rug.
An Ikebana vase with a single tall flower. http://www.chopa.com/ShopSite/new_items.html
A Calligraphy over the bed
An asian fan on the dresser.
A meditation corner

As for the window treatments on the sliding glass door, I suggest a sliding curtain that opens in the middle. You can choose any material you want from a fabric store and have it custom made to match your decor. http://www.apartmenttherapy.com/uimages/chicago/2008-02-07-kbr.jpg
Platform beds are good for an Asian theme. Since I cannot see your link, I don’t know what colors are in the comforter, but usually black furniture will always match. Black is also good for an Asian theme, but so is a light colored wood, like bamboo or maple (natural).
Keeping the Asian theme to accents throughout is a good idea! It will help you from becoming annoyed with looking at it after a couple years. Put up some plates on the wall, and small Bonsai trees around. If you can find an Asian themed room divider, that would look awesome!
For lighting – paper lamps are have the Asian theme as well, and are inexpensive. http://oriental-decor.com/paper-lamps.php#2032
