Haha your dad sounds just like mine! No, I swear, sometimes my dad is even worse.
Picture this: to dinner at Chili's, he wears black t-shirt, black shorts, black sneakers, and white socks up to mid-shin. He's loud, and makes sure everyone can hear what's going on.
The scenerio: my mom had called 45 minutes previously to secure a table. We arrive, and the people say that our table isn't ready, even though we gave them plenty of time to prepare. My mom, sister, and I all walk out into the cold [it was winter] but my dad stays inside. After about ten minutes, my dad comes back out, saying that he got us a table, only after much bickering with the hostess and a short chat with the manager. So we go in, jump ahead of a ton of people, and take our seats.
I think one of our appetizers was wrong or something, and my dad made the manager come out so he could talk to him personally. Long story short, the manager gave us all this free stuff, but I was so embarrassed. Then, my father just walks up to people that go to our church and strikes up a 20-minute long conversation with them, frequently complaining about cigarette smoke. He invaded the one kid's personal bubble, snapped at people he didn't know, and walked up to more people acting like he knew them. Even though the food was excellent, I wanted to die, especially because the place was crawling with cute guys...
But that's just ONE of my father's infamous events.

Does your sister feel the same way? If so try to talk to him together, if you can. Just be real calm about everything and tell him you were bummed because you were hoping to spend time with him but he talked on his phone and to his friend instead of talking to you two. Take that approach and see how it works. More than likely he didn't even realize he was doing it. Let him know you wanted to spend time with HIM not him and his cell phone. Good luck.

Maybe you should tell your dad how you feel. If he is an understanding guy than he will understand and try to act better when you are with him. If he just gets mad than explain that you would rather not go out to eat with him anymore.

I think you should tell him how you felt while he was being loud, tell him that you wish he would of realized that he wasn't being very polite and that you are afraid of going out with him to lunch again.
Good luck ; )

No disrespect but that sounds hysterical. Maybe because it sounds like my boyfriend, sometimes you just have to let natural consequences be the teacher, meaning maybe he'll realize he's being rude when someone at the restaurant says something. Im with you though, it's so embar-assing!
