Yes, replaced my countertops, sink, faucet disposal and dishwasher… Go to lowes – or google LG solid surfaces… it is an awesome product and is much better than granite. For installation and everything including new hardware for my cabinets and those above mentioned appliances was 7000.00
We just redid our whole house on an even smalller budget than yours, and I have all kinds of ideas. Lowe’s has pre-made cabinets in all different shapes and sizes for about a 1/4 of the price of custom made cabinets. Also instead of using ceramic tiles, you can get vinyl tiles with adhesive backing that work just as well and are alot cheaper. If you use these, you don’t have to pull out tiles or anything, you can just cover what is already up there just make sure and use a thick grout as extra adhesive or they won’t stick. You can find these at Home Depot or Lowe’s or even Big Lots or the local dollar store. Just whatever you do make sure and buy a box more than you think you will need in case they discontinue they style (experience taught me that). When painting, the more expensive paint is not always better than the cheaper paint. The best paint I found came from Ace Hardware and looked alot better than Behar paint. The Behar paint also chipped alot easier. This will also save you alot of money in the long run. As for appliances, you can find your smaller appliances such as microwave and what not at Wal-Mart. For your bigger appliances, you can get a roll of stick on paper similar to wallpaper that looks like stainless steel. You just cut it to cover the sides of your refrigerator and stove and put it on. then you only have to buy new handles for your refrigerator to match. If you want to you can email me if you have any more questions throughout the process. We just finished our kitchen and it took us a year because we were on a paycheck to paycheck budget.
I redid my kitchen last year. We painted the ugly 70′s cabinets a creamy white and distessed them. Then I put new knobs on the doors. We put a new floor down (vinyl tiles), got a new sink and faucet, new counter top, put wainscoting on the walls under all the cabinets and I think that is all. I did this all for under $800. I got the sink, faucet, & cabinet hardware from ebay and saved a fortune. Good luck. Shop around. You can do it for a lot less than $10G.
