Maybe he is just wanting to take it slow. He is probably into you if he continues to communicate with you online. Maybe it is his way of discovering who you are.
He could be interested in someone else like you are with him. The only way to know is to maintain communications but do not over do it.
He may like you as a person and enjoy your company but he may not be into you in regards to a relationship.
Get some friends together and do some exciting things to see how he acts when he is in a different element. EX: You mentioned Restaurant, bar scene and private poker session. So find something like Rafting, tubing, camping, Hiking, sky-diving, boating, skiing or road trip to get him out of his element. You need him to open up and not necessarily to you but in general so you can read him better.
Make sure a mutual friend invites him. A group of 6-8 would be ideal for any mini-adventure.

he likes you and doesn’t know how to handle it. i would take a chill pill yourself. Girls who ask guys out are asking for trouble, they see it as being loose if you take my drift. it should be the guy doing the asking.
let him bring up the subject. its my personal motto, if a guy is interested in me, then he needs to have the balls enough to aske me out himeself.
