Is this professional??
A home inspector came to my house today requested by the person who is going to buy my house. I was requested to leave and take my dogs with me for 4 hours, which was inconvienient, but understandable. When I got home, after toting my dogs around with me for 4 hours, I let them outside, and went back into the car to get my sleeping son, and found my dogs running loose in the neighborhood! He did not shut my gate back! Luckily after 20 minutes of chasing, I was able to get them back. Then, I walk back into my house. Every cabinet he looked in, pretty much all were wide open. All of my blinds in my house were all lopsided and pulled open all crooked. All of the my chairs that go to my table, and up agaist the bar were all in the middle of the room. Also, he left hundreds of black scuff marks and black footprints all over my freshly mopped ceramic tile floor! It just seems to me, that he should have left my house as he found it. He is lucky my dogs did not get hit by cars. So Careless!!!!

This is not a normal. I would call the company he works for and also the real estate agent that hired hi.
They are not suppose to leave property that way and they are suppose to secure all gates and doors when leaving.
You don’t have a lawsuit for this action but I would make sure the word gets out about this company. I deal with many Home Inspectors and this is not a normal. I would be more afraid of the report he is writing up.
He should have left it as he found it.
no and I would complain
You should have taken pictures. You had a lawsuit.
I have never heard of the leaving the house when it is being inspected, and you should not have left.
I have sold plenty of homes and have always been there when the inspector came
There will be an association of house inspectors to complain to. Also report him to the BBB and I would expect some redress from the prospective owners. Certainly report it to them and expect them to pay and/or clean up.
You should receive a copy of the home inspection report, along with contact info for the company. Put together a list of everything you found wrong and write a letter of complaint. It may not do you any good personally. But, the next people who use this company may be spared the grief.
You can also complain to the buyer’s real estate agent. That might make them think twice about recommending that home inspector again (hit them in the pocketbook).
Yes, very un-professional.
I wouldn’t leave a stranger in my house for 4 hours or any length of time without me there.
And next time your asked to do so, explain to them what occurred this time.
I put "booties" on when inspecting someones home.
I expect you to be there, although I’d ask that the dog’s be put somewhere out of the way.
I was actually "nipped" by a little dog that I thought would be no problem.
Welcome to the wonderful world of workers who enter your home & make a tremendous mess. I often wonder why companies hire these clods. Whenever workders enter your home or yard be sure to check fences, gates, doors etc to be sure they are secure for your pets, children. Likely as not, they won’t be.
that is unprofessional on his part. for starters he should have made an appointment that is good for your schedule, and he should have left the house the way it was when he arrived
