My 3 month kitty scratches & bites…will he stop?

I got Jack when he was just 6 weeks, now he is 3 months. He not only scratches and bites but he jumps on the furniture and most recently the kitchen counter (which is nasty). How do I get him to stop?

yes he will stop dont worry. he just needs more attention. i know it might sound good to get them declawed but what they really do is, ripp the claws out while they are awake or asleep. But its all your choice.
give him a little more attention and he will stop.

Get him declawed As for bititng i am sure he will stop. Just tell him no when he does it
he will stop hes just being a little kitty. kittens are like kids they will act up and want to play all the time. i would get him some new toys to play with a spray bottle to spray him when he gets on the counter. this is what i did when i had a little kitten. good luck.

my cat is 1 1/2 and she still bites and scratches she thinks she is playing when she does that
Don’t declaw him whatever you do!! It’s an inhumane thing. It’s like taking our entire finger nails off. It’s terrible and unnatural.
I would suggest get a little GENTLE water bottle sprayer. Spray it every time it scratches. if this seems too harsh, then just clap really loudly whenever it goes to scratch or bite.

No, DON’T get him declawed, it’s the equivalent of having a human’s finger cut off at the first joint, and it’s cruel. This is normal kitten behavior. He will calm down when he gets just a little older, a few months. Put aluminum foil on the countertop to discourage him jumping up there, cats hate the feeling and sound of it, it will scare him. You can also spray him with a water bottle when you see him do it. Enjoy this time when he is a playful baby.
Yeah my cats used to do that too. You should spray them with some water to let them no it’s unexceptable. If he wants to be on the couch or sometihng, it’s hard to make a cat stop jumping up on the couch cause they see you and say "Hey you’re sitting on it, why can’t I?" The table on the other hand, use a spray bottle and spray them.
I have a cat that’s nearly as big as a bobcat. He’s two years old and he still plays rough like that and scratches furniture. Some cats are just aggressive, but I doubt that it is equivalent to what we think of as mean. If you can put up with it, just try to work with him, but at the same time understand that it hasn’t been that long since all cats were wild. You might need to overlook this and accept him ; it’s not his fault, it’s just nature.
Ohhh my kitteh was the most skits cat I’ve ever seen. She clawed all up my mum’s leg and climbed up all of the curtains…. but she did indeed stop.
Your kitten is teething. They don’t get adult teeth until they are about 6 months old. They also are role playing, that’s were the use of the paws come in. Firmly say no, and pull away when they are too inappropriate Kitty will grow out of it someday!
I have the same problem. I have 2 kittens that are about 4 months old now. My little girl is constantly biting my ears. One time she bit me while I was sleeping and it was bleeding everywhere! She is starting to grow out of that biting stage, but now her and her brother like to scratch and claw my roommate’s new couches. I do have a spray bottle for when they scratch the furniture, but they only stop for a little while and then go back to it. I really don’t know what to do either! My roommate is getting really angry about her couches getting messed up, but there is nothing I can do to make them stop. I really hope they just grow out of it or I may have to get them declawed…

I have heard that cats seem to calm down at around 7 months of age. This did seem true of my cat (also named Jack). He wasn’t terrible with biting or scratching us or the furniture but he would jump against the walls and claw all the way back down. Luckily, he has stopped that as well. I have also heard that you can put pieces of tape (sticky side up) on counters and places you don’t want to cat to jump up to. They don’t like having something on their paws, but I suggest you being close by (to remove it) because you wouldn’t want kitty to fall and get hurt. I agree kitty on the counter is gross, and one of the best ways to see if he is still getting up there is to put out a twist tie (like from a loaf of bread). Cats seem to love these, and he would surely get it down to play if he got up there and found it. I don’t know what to tell you about the furniture b/c I allow my cats on the couches and beds. At least you don’t eat off of those! I think there is a spray out (maybe called "Behave") that repels kitties from places you don’t want them. I’m not sure how well it would work with a hard surface, such as a counter, but it may be a good idea to try for the beds, couches, etc. I have never used it so I don’t actually know how well it works. I have a 3 month old kitten at the moment as well as a 4 month old puppy so a lot of things are getting chewed up at my house. Good luck with your new kitty!
