strange thing happened with my pet parakeet?
i let her out to play in the dinning room because she likes to play in there / mostly in the plants and when i went out of the room to do something for a few minutes because i trust her , well when i left she was perched on one of the bars of a chair under the table but when i came back i checked under the table and to my shock found a hand full of feathers and then i found her in one of the plants perched on a twig and she seemed ok but her tail was very short and i realized that the feathers came from her tail but there was no blood her tail was just shorter and i don’t know how this could have happened because i have no other animals besides her please can any one help

If she was molting, she would drop a few feathers at a time, not a handful, as a result of a short tail.
Her tail must have stuck on to the twig or under the chair and she was anxious, so she ran off quickly trying to get her tail off but the feather all dropped out.
This happened quite a number of times to my parakeet. So the best is that, always supervise your parakeet when it is in a place full of "obstables".
If it seems fine, than it’s okay, just give it time to recover from shock. If it is bleeding, you can apply some fresh aloe vera on it. It helps.
Take Care.
I think she is just molting. It’s when they lose their feathers and grow new ones! I hope everything is ok and I hope I helped!

my parakeets did this too! they just yank there tail feathers off because they are molting, or bothering it, too long,or just bored
dont worry this is normal and they will grow!
they probably are just molting.and you dont have to worry about the parakeet bleeding because when their feathers get pulled out it hardly hurts if at all
She’s most likely molting. Parrots usually do this twice every year. It’s when they shed all of the feathers they have and replace them with new ones. Pretty soon, you’ll see feathers coming through that look like the have a wax cover on them. This is called a sheath, and it covers pin feathers (blood feathers). Blood feathers are extremely sensitive, and shouldn’t be touched by you. Some people like to "help" their bird remove the sheath, but it’s extremely painful and shouldn’t be done until the blood feather has completely stopped growing.
Hope i helped :]
Molting. One of my budgies lost all of her main tail feathers in one day. Initially I was very worried. But about 2 weeks later they had regrown and now look better than they did before.
She is molting. Its okay she will be fine, she was probably bored
