I have lived with a man for 6 years. 5years ago he tore the inside of the house out. We only have a family room that is almost done. My kitchen is only 3 foot wide, no table, the bedrooms have no walls or doors, and his cats have used the whole house as their litter box. I am now dying from all the poisons of the urine on the furniture and the kerocene he uses to heat the house. I have been trying to move out, but he has also taken my money. Even the doctors have told him of my health is due to the house.

I have an employee who purchased a condominium 6 months ago. He’s married with 2 young boy 4-12. This family arrived from China about 6 years ago. They’re somewhat fluent in English. Anyway, their condominium neighbor is missing a nut in the head, this man harasses my employee and his family each single morning when they leave for work, he screams at them, threats them etc. I told my employee to call the police, we’ve tried to go threw the condo administration but they don’t want to get involved. Turns out the police don’t want to get involved either. These people live in terror, they have moved all their livingroom and kitchen furniture upstairs and basically live in their bedrooms.
What’s our next option?

I’m buying a house in a month. I am a bachelor and will live there alone, at least at first. It’s a 3 bedroom rancher with 1 bathroom, a nice size living room, and a big kitchen. The living room and kitchen have brand new vinyl flooring. I’m going to repaint some rooms (kids lived there) and then recarpet the bedrooms.
I have a good idea what I’m going to do with the space in terms of furniture, but my main question however is, I need a little help with decorating. What kinds of things (pictures, posters, etc) should I hang on the wall?
by the way I’m 25 if that helps.

My boyfriend and i are closing a deal on our new house and are going shopping for furniture next week. He isn’t much of a planner at all, if it was up to him…we’d get to the store and he’d pick out a bunch of mismatch items because he’d be in a hurry to get out of the store. I, on the other hand, am a freak about planning and like have everything in order. So i’m making a list of furniture we’ll need for our house; we’re going with none of the basics.
So i was wondering what any of you would suggest? I have a pretty long list already but i have the feeling like i’m missing things.
For rooms we have:
-5 bedrooms (one of which is for a 2 year old)
-3.5 bathrooms
-living room
-dining room
-breakfast nook
-kitchen
-laundry/utility room
-family room
-porch
Really, any suggestions or anything you could think of would be great. I’m just trying to cover the bases so we’re not thrown out into the deep end when we get to the stores haha.

And i’m asking this here because i feel a bit more comfortable in this section and i’ll get a few more answers i’m hoping.

that my family ownes. The more you look the more rooms, baths and bedrooms you find. The finished rooms are beautiful, with luxury spas and wonderful features. The unfinished rooms are 1/2 done, and have tons of furniture left by previous owner (or someone). There is a full kitchen in the lower level as well as the upper. Lots and lots of valuable items in the basement going unused.
We always have to work on cleaning and finishing the undone rooms, which me and my family memebers do happily.
Weird, huh! Any mystics out there have any ideas?

I’m new to florida and I’m renting a low income apartment. We have inspections tommorrow. I’m expecting them to look in the kitchen , bath, and bedrooms and look at the general cleanliness of the place but do they have the right to search my dressers, draws, boxes and other personal belongings? I dont think so, do you? Its ok if they look in the closets, to me that part of the apartment structure but all furniture and dressers are personal which would require some sort of legal warrant. I’m just concerned about my right to privacy. Any thoughts from renters or landlords welcomed.

My am in college and next semester my best friend and I are getting an apartment together. She is kind of boyish and I am super girly. We will each have our own bedrooms and bathrooms and she said that I could decorate our Living room, kitchen, and dining room as well. I basically have two parts to my question:
1.) When decorating my room and bathroom, I have no furniture yet so it is a blank canvas. Where can I find some cheap durable pieces that I can transfer to my house when I graduate? Also, where are some cute decorating ideas? I love the home interior kind of stuff with the wrought iron and etc, but I am still yound and want to incorporate livliness! I also love pink and green. Where can I find cute accessories?
2.) For the living room and dining room, we have antique furniture that is very not our style. I will have to work around it until we can save for others. How can I modernize it and where can I find cheap but classy looking stuff to replace it? Thanks!

Hi all. My husband and I live in an 1100 sq/ft house with two bedrooms, 1 bathroom, 1 hallway, a laundry room, small kitchen and big living room. We want to have the whole house tiled with carpet in the two bedrooms. When our puppies were growing up they discovered the worn holes in the old carpet and decided to make them bigger, tearing into them like an Easter Ham. (The house is about 26 yrs old and the carpet is at least 10 yrs old)
We are on a budget and are looking for options to save money on installation and materials. We are looking at tile and carpet that costs about per sq/ft and would like to get it installed by someone.
1) Would we really save money doing prep work ourselves? How much would this entail?: Im imagining pulling up the old carpet, pulling out the wood bits and nails, clearing out all the furniture, sweeping… cant think of what else. Is it worth the savings?
2) How much would it be to get it installed? We live in Bakersfield, CA.
BTW thats tile throughout the house and carpet in the two bedrooms (not carpet tiles)
We have thought about doing it ourselves. Maybe we need to revisit that. We have both laid tile before but not carpet. Id rather leave that to professionals cos I dont know it. The main reason why we wanted to get it installed is because it is the whole house not just one room and 5 professionals can come in and do it a lot faster and easier than my husband and I ever could. It would take us weeks and weeks. But maybe we can get relatives to help.

I keep dreaming that I own a house with many rooms, all furnished with nice victorian furniture. Some of the rooms are haunted. Some you get to through secret passages. Others I don’t even know exist and are not lived in. I am always showing people my house and I find new rooms all the time, sometimes a second kitchen and living room, and always more bedrooms. None of them are used although they are fully furnished, with oriental rugs and expensive vases and things.

I’m moving into an apartment that has dark wood paneling EVERYWHERE. All of the walls in the living room, bedrooms, and kitchen are covered in it. The carpet is tan. How can I tastefully decorate the apartment. I cannot paint or remove the paneling. I’m thinking of hanging paintings, but I don’t know what colors/styles to go with. Would a red, black, and grey rug match or would it be too dark? I have no furniture and I think minimalism is better than a mismatched apartment. Any suggestions?

We’ve been married for eight years. My Canadian espouse has her job and her house in Canada. But as a Canadian citizen holding a green card I spent while on sabbatical the whole year traveling back and forth between the 2 countries. Now my sabbatical is over, I just bought a new house in the US. We still vow to continue to maintain two household establishments.
Do I have the privileges to bring with me to the United States a truck full of old furniture (i.e. bedrooms, TV, kitchen utensils, etc.) we have purchased years ago?
What can I bring easily?
What should I avoid?
Should I care about any particular problem before crossing the border?
Thank you in advance for any advice.
