I love Thomasville but it’s out of my priceline. Is there any comparable dining room furniture that I can buy that won’t kill me. I’m having it delivered to NC-by the beach in the spring. Would like it delivered straight there in case anything goes wrong. Any suggestions? Looking for dining room table, chairs, buffet, and matching bar stools.

There are two other girls in our suite style apartment. Julie has agreed to buy the entertainment system and has already bought most of the kitchen appliances. She also wants to buy the TV and but not buy any of the living/dining room furniture. Julie thinks that the other room mate and I should split the costs of the furniture. The thing is, all of the things Julie is buying can be taken to her home after college. I will not be able to do anything with the crappy furniture after college- because who wants crappy furniture? In my opinion, it would be better to spend 00 on the TV and kitchen utensils than 0 of furniture. I feel like the other room mate and I are being taken advantage because she gets to buy the things that can be used after college. Should I just shut up and pay for the cheap furniture or stand up to her and try to work something else out? Any suggestions for a good outcome in this situation would be greatly appreciated.

I recently moved into a new home that is totally open and the whole downstairs needs painted. I want all rooms to coordinate or at least flow. My living room furniture is chocolate brown. My kitchen cabinets are cherry, with stainless steel appliances. Dining room furniture is cherry as well. Floors are cherry hardwood.
The trim and the mantle and the wood blinds are white.
So, I am torn between painting the walls a steely gray blue or a warm tan. What do you think. I am on HOLD until I decide. Please help!

I’m 25 and live with my parents, they don’t ask me to do much around the house but, since learning how to drive and not having my license yet I don’t have much options since I’m not allowed to help on the crop farm.
Anyway lately I’ve been getting sick and tired of just laying around, watching tv or being online. Yesterday I vacuumed the living and dining room and its furniture. Today I dusted the dining room furniture and kitchen table.
Yesterday the vacumming took me an hour and 50 minutes, it’d be awesome to find something to do around the house that lasts at least 4 hours. maybe clean the house everyday. Suggestions? I keep asking my mom but she doesn’t ask much of me. She’s very lenient
Can’t you people read? I DONT HAVE A DRIVER’S LICENSE YET! I live 11 miles OUT OF TOWN!

I’m a thirty-year-old single guy. I like dogs, the outdoors, my Jeep Wrangler, autumn, good wine, travel, photography…
I’m trying to integrate my "likes" into my home. I have painted my living/dining room two colors of khaki, and a chalkboard-green wall. I have a brown leather couch, and walnut tables and bookcases. I’ve also remodeled my guest bathroom – new flooring, hardware, paint, etc.
However, I’m trying to get ideas on decorating… accent pieces, dining room furniture, bedroom furniture (blank slate right now) and my own bathroom. I need help finding websites for "bachelor pads" and masculine design (not a lot of flowery-things). I’d like to redo the kitchen with the small tiles as a backsplash.
I’d like to find websites/books/magazines that show off a masculine home. Pictures are a must!!
The main goals are to have a cool guy’s house and up the resale value.
Serious responses only… any help is appreciated. Thanks!
As I said, folks… I need pictures, websites, magazines, etc. While I appreciate the suggestions, does no one know of ANY place to LOOK at pictures to get ideas? That’s what I’m wanting.

The dining and living rooms form a "L" and both areas are open to the kitchen. The dining room furniture is dark brown wood. I plan to purchase an entertainment center or armroire in the near future that I may paint or stain. My kitchen cabinents are red oak and so is the flooring throughout all 3 spaces…help!

I’m moving into my first home (I had been taking care of my mother in her house for many years). So finally I’m buying my first house. I’m very excited but not so much in love with the kitchen cabinets and can in no way remodel the kitchen for at least 3 or 4 years at the earliest. Here’s a virtual view of the model home: http://www.divosta.com/homefinder/model_virtual_tour.asp?ip=1&commOrg_acctCode=3120&plan_acctCode=45902
My house is the no frills version so it pales in comparison to the model but it looks like the cabinets are the same. All of my kitchen and dining room furniture is medium oak and I do love its quality and durability. I hate the whole kitschy looking farmhouse white and oak thing that was popular in the 90s. It was fun back then but I don’t want it now. What can I do? I was hoping to put crown moulding over the cabinets but I see that the cabinets on the outside wall go right to the ceiling. Any ideas on how to tackle this on a budget?
