Rugs or no Rugs? help Please?

Hello, Thanks for taking the time to read this.
Ok, I have been living on aparments since long time ago, most of them are all carpet (no choice), so now I’m moving to a beautiful townhome with 2 levels, first level where the living/dinning/kitchen are is all hardwood floors, I was just looking for slidders or socks for the furniture so they don’t scratch the wood, my fiance said that the dinning room and the couches will look funny without a big area rug underneath. Do you think that Area rugs are mandatory on hardwood floors? Please share your opinions. Thanks again.

How much is my House Worth Now?

i know its hard without pictures or someone to come in and appraise my house but i want a good educated guess on my houses value.

I Bought a New house for 0,000 in myrtle beach sc. the neighborhood is extremely nice and away from all problems, and the neighborhood is recently finished and all the houses are very new and very nice mostly vinyl or brick front and some with craftsmen (kids roam freely without you having to worry.) i had the house built in November in 2008, it was the second to last lot available and most houses in the neighborhood sold for 0,000 and up in previous years with the most expensive house around 0,000. the lot is is cornering to a large pond and is a very nice view. the house sits on a 1/4 acre lot and is around 16,000 sq.ft. with vinyl siding it has a 20×24 garage, full laundry room, 16×14 master bedroom with walk in closet and sliding glass shower in the bathroom with 2 sinks and full mirror. it has 2 12×14 guest bedrooms and a standard full size hallway bathroom. all the rooms are separated from the rest of the house by a hallway. the house is carpet except for the wood floor foyer with a closet and the very open kitchen that has tasteful linoleum (not the ugly cheep linoleum) all the Appliances are stainless steel and has a 3 to 4 chair bar overlooking the vaulted ceiling living room (the living room is huge with a large 62" ceiling fan and sliding door going to the back patio 16×20) it has a full dinning room with chandelier that fits our 6 chair dinning room table and also has enough room to put a full sized marble top liquor and wine bar in the back. the back patio is 12×12.

We are going to be painting our house sometime soon we hope. I can’t figure out what colors we should use. Well actually our dinning room and kitchen our attached to each other so whatever I paint the dinning room the kitchen will more then likely be the same color. Can someone suggest some colors please!
Also we have tan colored floors and furniture in our living room and light colored flooring and counters in the kitchen and a oak colored wood for the kitchen (dinning room) table.
Well actually all the rooms our attached to each other in a way but I would like to do the living room a different color then the dinning room.
My husband was thinking that we could go to one end of the wall then start the other color at the wall. Our dinning room wall and living room wall run in together. The floors separate them though, which I was thinking we could stop the color there and go to the other color we like. What do you think would look better that way?
I kinda like the lighter colors.
Also I love the blues but I think I maybe doing to much blues … my daughter’s room is the only room so far that isn’t going to be blue. My son’s room is going to be light blue, my husband and I’s bedroom is going to be dark blue. I keep looking at different blues for the living room too but I’m afraid I’m doing to many blues. Not to mention the siding on our house is blue.

I need a change and want to paint my living room and kitchen. The problem is that I have catheral ceilings and my kitchen, living room and dinning room are all open. The carpet in the living and dining room is burgundy and my furniture is a cream color, walls are currently a mauve color, I need a new color without having to replace the carpet right now. Would like all one color with an accent wall. Any suggestions?

The wood frame of the chairs is a dark oak finish. the existing chair fabric is brownish tone. My dinning room walls are a light sage green color. I just don’t like the darkness in the brown tones of the existing fabric. I would like something lighter. I have wooden floors underneath, with a light oak finish. What can you recommend? How about design? Bold designs? Subtle designs? Solid color?

(10 points best answer!) Interior design help?

Okay, please forgive me if this is a bit long. Just….bear with me. :)
(By the way, this is not for my house. It’s for a project I’m working on.)

First off, the kitchen.
What I had in mind was stainless steel appliances; built-in stoves (is that what they’re called? You’ll have to help me with names for things here), double range, double door fridge (one side fridge, one side freezer). In the middle is a island with four bar stools; two on each side. All the counter tops are black granite and the cupboards have black wood borders but are glass. For color, I was thinking a vibrant red for a nice contrast with the black wood/counter tops.

Second, the dinning room.
Okay…here’s where I’m drawing a blank. The kitchen is a little bit closed off from the dinning room. For the table I’m thinking avant cherry wood. But as far as paint goes, I’m stuck. What color would look good in there?

Third, the entrance way.
Basically when you come through the front door, it’s very open. The living room is to the left (they’re basically attached) and the dining room is to the right. There are other rooms that are closed off with doors directly in front, but further back towards the back of the house. Should it just be the same color as the living room? If not, what color should it be?

Fourth, the living room.
I was previously thinking red, but the kitchen is already red. The couches are brown leather and there are two antique brown leather chairs. (Link: http://www.miniaturesandmore.com/shop/media/LeatherSteffey.jpg) There is a fireplace with an undecided color of bricks. What color should the living room be? And what decor could I put up?

Rawr. That’s all I have for right now. Also, there can’t be any navy blues, red wine mahogany, or stupid vibrant colors (like lime green). This house is supposed to look classy and luxious, but modern and homey.

Thanks a million! Any suggestions, advice, or corrections are greatly appreciated!
Sorry the link for the chair doesn’t work :S

I work at a restaurant and there is no required tip pool. The manager just requires us to tip out the bartenders, buss boys, and host. At the end of the night before we clock out we have to declare tips, I usually only declare what I made in credit card tips not cash. Is there a difference?

Next situation:
At my restaurant we have a mix of where it’s busy bar & dinning room where they get about the same sales BUT when we pull up how much other servers are making & bartenders, usually bartenders are making way more in sales. At the end of the night I usually give them a couple bucks because we only have one bartender per shift and they make more in tips than we do.(because they are always bragging about it) BUT they usually don’t make regular drinks (soft drinks) servers do. So how much should i tip them out if they have only made like 2 drinks but I’ve made about 0 a night?

Next situation:
Dinner only do we have 2 buss boys (weekends only). We only have about 24 tables in dinning room & 8 tables in bar (not including bar stools). Usually we have 3-4 tables per server when it’s busy. BUT buss boys usually don’t have a lot of work to do as i see it. I greet guest, refills their drink, etc. I even pre-bus my table before they leave so all that’s left on the tables is glasses and a napkin. Bussers just need to reset the tables. The thing that gets me when they see me pre-bus a table, I’m carrying dirty dishes, utensils, etc yet they don’t want to take it off my hands to save me a trip to the dishwasher! So wy should i tip them out 10% of my tips?

Sorry for so many questions, I’m new at serving!
