I have just bought my first house. My kitchen has white cabinets and a chair rail. I would like to paint below the chair rail a blue (maybe a slate blue?) but I don’t know what color to paint the above the chair rail. I was thinking a off white or cream color but I’m not sure how that would look with white cabinets.

My Husbands Friend and the Best man in Our wedding is a good guy. My husband now 24 and his Friend who is 19 grew up next to each other when my husband moved from Russia to the USA.
Here is the Help I need.
Jr who is my husbands Friend lives in Complete Fifth with his 13 year old sister and Parents. They have 7 cats who Pee and Poop everywhere, In the Kitchen on the furniture Etc. Every time we go visit the Whole house reeks of piss and poop. There are filthy dishes with Bugs swarming in the Kitchen. The Daughters bed reeks of Cat peep and poop and is nasty. Her clothing is Dirty and there only Bathroom leeks and as mold everywhere.
I can’t Stand going into the house. Every time I do visit the daughter complains of being hungry and there is only dirty nasty food in the Kitchen so I end up taking her out. This family is a Nice family but has fallen on hard times. But I breaks my heart seeing the condition that the family lives in. I have invited them to my house for dinner but they cannot afford the gas to drive 20 miles. I have gotten the Daughter clothing and things she needs. My husband and I just bought our first house, Its is small but very clean and cozy. We have invited Jr and his Sister to stay with us but because of work and school it’s just too far.
My husband was only 12 when he met the family and things were different then.
I really want to help them but I don’t see how else I can. What Do I do?
I am only 22 and adopted myself from a similar situation. I am not sure how far helping will go.

Sometime last year, I saw on Chronicles or some other Boston show, that a good way to furnish your house is to go to wholesalers that sale to restaurants, furniture stores, hotels, etc…
I’m buying my first house and I’m looking for one of those where I can buy good wine/drinking glasses, flat/silverware, kitchen supplies etc… for cheap. In the episode, they showed places where restaurants buy that were selling wine glasses for about {content}.50-{content}.90/piece but at that time I didn’t need any so I didn’t write it down.
Any idea of places that sell at this price?

I’m moving into my first home (I had been taking care of my mother in her house for many years). So finally I’m buying my first house. I’m very excited but not so much in love with the kitchen cabinets and can in no way remodel the kitchen for at least 3 or 4 years at the earliest. Here’s a virtual view of the model home: http://www.divosta.com/homefinder/model_virtual_tour.asp?ip=1&commOrg_acctCode=3120&plan_acctCode=45902
My house is the no frills version so it pales in comparison to the model but it looks like the cabinets are the same. All of my kitchen and dining room furniture is medium oak and I do love its quality and durability. I hate the whole kitschy looking farmhouse white and oak thing that was popular in the 90s. It was fun back then but I don’t want it now. What can I do? I was hoping to put crown moulding over the cabinets but I see that the cabinets on the outside wall go right to the ceiling. Any ideas on how to tackle this on a budget?
