I just acquired an old farmhouse where the kitchen cabinets are in serious need of a good cleaning. I’ve scrubbed and scrubbed with everything i can think of but they are still sticky and grimy. I thought the grime and stickiness was grease buildup, but now I am beginning to think that it may be a combination of not only grease, but furniture wax (like pledge) and nicotine (yuck!!).
I am wondering if anyone has any suggestions on how to get wax buildup off of wood?
thanks a bunch

I need to clean my kitchen cabinets and I’m not sure how to get the grease build up off of them. In the past I’ve use furniture polish to help spruse them up, and just regular cleaners like soap and water, but it doesn’t do the job. When I clean, I like to do a thorough job, and my kitchen cabinets have always been lacking that because of me not being able to find the right cleaner to cut through the grime and grease.
What should I use? My kitchen cabinets are the generic wood kind…I think maple. Not too sure. This house was built back in 92 and it has the original cabinets. When we bought the house in 2003, the previous owner did not clean them very well, and ever since, I’ve had a hard time keeping them clean and cleaning them thoroughly.
Any tips, advice will be much appreciated. Thanks a bunch!

I just purchased wood chairs from a chinese restraunant that have polyurethane and soy sauce on them. I already used pine sol and a scrubie sponge. It took most of the grime off, but they are still sticky. Should I continue or should I stop and use something else? I just want to make sure I’m not damaging the wood before I get a chance to enjoy them.
