My dog slobbers a lot on the kitchen floor when we are out. We come home to lots of very watery slobber on the floor. Our current linoleum flooring is old and needs replacement. I would like something in style but it needs to withstand the slobber. Thanks for any suggestions.

what caused my kitten to pass away?

I adopted the last 2 kittens from a litter on Sunday the 24th, a little girl and little boy. I went only wanting 1 kitten but when I arrived, they were covered in their own fecal matter, living outside in a cage with momma kitty no where to be found, at 5 1/2 weeks. I did not have the heart to leave one there in missery and give the other a loving home. We we got back to my house, I gave both kittens a bath, some kitten food (softened with warm water) and they took a nap. The girl kitten was/ is doing just fine. She is very playful, eats her food when I feed her and drinks plenty of water. Her stools were loose a few days ago but have begun to solidify. Her brother on the other hand was almost the exact opposite. I would have to wake him, put him in the litter box, stand there til he went potty ( which means waking him up as he would fall asleep) pick him back up, carry him to the food dish, put 1 piece of food at a time in his mouth (as he would not eat on his own) and give him water with a syringe (as he would not drink on his own). All he wanted to sleep, and he would have for 24 hours a day if I hadn’t constantly woke him up. Monday night I got him some pedialite and fed him some rice with chicken broth and he seemed to being doing ok. At first his stools were very watery with a little blood (worried me so I made an appointment with the vet for Tuesday) Tuesday he was acting just like his sister. Seemed to be a normal kitten. Stool still watery but lacking the blood. So I decided to for go the vet ( kicking my self in the back side for that decision). Come wednesday afternoon I wake up ( I work nights at my job so I slepp during the day) and find him laying on the kitchen floor, eyes open, not breathing with a trail of blood from where he started pooping to where he took his last breath. Anyone have any ideas on what might have caused him to pass away? I am thinking ring worm but not sure.

My 15 year old cat's butt is bleeding?

Please do not answer with taking her to vet, because I absolutely will be doing so tomorrow morning. I am looking for info for TONIGHT whether it be good news or bad.

She is 15 years old. I noticed a splash of blood on my kitchen floor and then afterwards found dried blood spots all over the house. Her stool is bloody, but otherwise normal looking and her appetite has not changed.
The only thing I’ve noticed is that she’s been acting out but now I realize it was to get my attention :( She still purrs when happy and may be a tiny bit more lethargic…but she still plays too.
Her butthole just seems to be bleeding. And not a lot but it does seem to be a constant small amount. It’s bloodied on the outside obviously and when she sits in one place for a few minutes sometimes blood appears on the spot.
What does this sound like? I hope to god she’s okay. But will be taking her to the vet to rule everything out hopefully and to get to the root of it.
Send prayers for my kitty, please :(

Should kitchen floor cabinets be screwed to the wall when installing? We just finished installing the wall cabinets. The floor cabinets are level. We have shemed the cabinets. Any suggestions? Do we need to wait until we have our counter tops installed?

My sister and I had two male parakeets about the ages of 5-6 years old. About 3 days ago, a cat had come in through the back door and toppled their cage off the stool and to the ground, in an obvious attempt to kill them. My sister witnessed this just as it was happening and scared the cat away before any more damage was inflicted. She described the birds as being very calm and unharmed right afterwards, despite their cage being a total mess. However, about a day or so later, we noticed that one of our birdies could barely fly. He was always an adventurer and he liked to leave the cage and fly about the kitchen and dining room, but he remained on the kitchen floor and hallways, crawling about for a couple hours, unable to fly back into his cage. I noticed that he was able to fly about a foot or 12 inches high, but then would come crashing back down to the ground. We managed to get him back in his cage manually, thinking that his wing(s) would heal within a matter of time. A couple days later, which is today, I peered into his cage to find him lying face down on the floor of his cage, dead. The other bird was flying around like normal, but my poor other bird was smack dead. Confused and distraught, as he was otherwise a very healthy bird living in a fine environment, I put him in a lined box so we can bury him later today. I have not yet told the rest of my family- they are all still asleep. What do you think the cause of his death was? =(

My kitchen has been gutted. The walls, the electrical, and the wood subfloor has been preped. Should the base cabinets be installed directly onto the wood subfloor (my house has a 3 to 4 foot crawl space…not concrete slab), or should the kitchen floor be tiled first and then install the base cabinets on top of the tile? What is the proper way to do it? Thanks in advance for your answers.

Dog has bad case of diarrhea…?

So last Thursday morning we woke up to my dog sitting in his kennel..looking miserable.. covered in diarrhea from head to toe.. along with his blanket.. toys.. etc. I figured maybe he ate something… then he seemed to be fine all day.

That evening around dinner time he went on the kitchen floor.. pure liquid. Then about 20 minutes later he did it again right by the door, about to bark to go out. I made him some white rice before we went to bed in hopes it would settle his belly..

Friday morning we woke up to the same scene. I called the vet as soon as they opened.. brought in a stool sample. At this point he was going every 10-15 minutes.. pure liquid. The vet tested his stool (which btw was covered in blood) ruled out anything serious.. etc.

They gave him some pills to make it stop.. and it worked almost instantly *thank god.* That weekend we kept him on a bland white rice diet… and then slowly started his regular food bad in once he had solid food. He only took the pills for 2 days and seemed to be fine.

Then yesterday we noticed he was really gassy all day.. and commented on how horrible it smelt. My husband made the comment "we’re going to wake up to shi*t again" Sure enough… around 5 this morning my husband smelt something terrible downstairs.. same scene.. After cleaning him up we gave him another pill… which has slowed it down (but not completely stopped yet) and of course have not fed him.

It hasnt even been a full week of him not getting sick… he is about 4 months old… he is a lab/ husky mix.. he has been eating Purina Puppy Food for large breed since he was 8 weeks old..nothing new has been introduced into his diet.. he doesnt eat human food.. (besides an occasional crumb or two he manages to find)…When he goes outside he has about a twenty feet radius of roaming space.. and its free of any wild plants etc.

The only thing I can think of is excattly one week before this started we took him to the vet and he got caught up on his vaccines etc maybe he could be having an allergic reaction?! It’s really the only *new* and *different* thing we have introduced to him…

The vet ruled out anything serious.. I do plan on calling them again today when they open.. but I figured I should get some other opinions.. and hopefully not have to spend another 150$ + on another vet bill..
they did do a full fecal test and checked for worms and all of the above!

I’m waiting for a doctor to call me back! Thanks for the suggestions.

I’m starting to wonder maybe he did swallow a sock or something?! Great..

Ok let me start with i have a vet app tomorrow at 8 in the morning.. I just got my puppy like a week ago he was 8 weeks when i got him, he has had all of his shots and has been de-wormed.. Tonight i noticed that there was blood in his stool when he pooped on my kitchen floor (not potty trained yet). it was like he pooped and then as an after thought pushed again and it was blood. The poop was soft in consistency and the blood seemed a little watery to me.. So as soon as i cleaned it up and got a better look at it i called a 24 hr vet and they were not of much help. She told me to make an app for in the morn and he should be fine but as i was talking to her he pooped again and it was all blood not very much just a few drops but still blood i told the lady on the phone and she still did not seem worried.. So i made my app for the morn but im still panicking.. He seems fine, he’s still eating and drinking and is as playful as ever. Im just wondering what it could be? I haven’t had a dog since i was a little girl so i don’t know much about puppy’s.. So im just worried i love my puppy and don’t want anything to happen to him..

Blood in stool?

This morning when I got up my little puppy(7mo shih-tzu, female) had an accident on the kitchen floor and when I went to clean it up I noticed it was bloody diarhea. Then when I was done cleaning it up I walked around table and there were just drips of blood.
She is fixed.

Why is my kitten leaking jelly-like diarrhea?

He used to be really sick a month ago but I nursed him back to health and took him to vet. He used to have roundworms and they’re all gone at 2nd stool sample test. For a long time he is still having diarrhea and sometimes he is dripping jelly-like light brown diarrhea on my carpet and kitchen floor. It looks like beef gravy! What is it? Giardia? I even feed him high quality holistic food!

He’s much smaller than a normal kitten his age (4 months at 2.5 lbs)
his poo looks like toothpaste and sometimes shiny but not watery

Am I right about the reason my cat is morbidly obese?

I had three cats. One was 10 y/o and had been with me since high school. The other two were taken because they needed a home. The two kittens were the only kittens in the litter. One was big and had 6 toes, and the other small with just 5 toes.
As they grew, the orange male with 5 toes, stayed small, and was super skinny. The female, white 6 toed, was big.
They were both fixed, and checked by a vet, given shots and dewormed.
One year later, the skinny cat was all bones, but ate the same as the other cats. Fatcat, as we called her, just got fatter. She didn’t eat anymore than the others. She was a fat, polydactal, cross-eyed freak of nature.
Suddenly Skinnycat got sick. Really awful, really fast. I found him laying upstairs, with a blank, unfocused stare. He looked like he had been dead for weeks, but was still alive. His gums were showing, and he made a horrible moaning-like sound. He was definitly on his way out. I brought him to the vet, and they uthenized him, and told me that they didn’t know what happened, and the tests to find out were very expensive.
One year later, I still have Fatcat, and Pat (the old lady of the house). Fatcat is 30lbs. She just lays sprawled out on her back on the kitchen floor, lazily swatting at your ankles as you walk by in hopes you’ll fill her food dish. Her whole life is focused on food. She does not get more food than Pat (who is a relatively skinny cat). I even give Pat food in a closed room, so Fatcat doesn’t eat her share.
The vet told me to cut Fatcat’s food down to about 1/4. I said I thought that seemed like so little. She only gets 1/4-1/2 a cup of food a day, now.
When I restricted her food, like they said, she went bonkers. She was eating the carpet, anything she found on the floor, including slivers of wood, plastic, or fuzz. She yowled and followed us around, and was just going insane. I gave in.
I gave all this info, in hopes that you can get the jist of the whole situation. All that I’ve experienced leads me to believe that in this case, genetics are what caused the abnormalness. I believe they were probably inbred and got some goofy genetics. One was abnormally skinny, while the sister was abnormally fat.
I think the vet is wrong to tell me to restrict her food. I think this is not something that can be helped. Why make her life miserable by taking away her biggest joy? Although, she has become quite a nuisance, and fills the litter box without covering, and often misses it because her massive body hangs over the edge. She also throws up, and has had bloody stool. I have taken her to the vet for those things, and they didn’t know – and it cost me 0 to hear what they didn’t know!

So….freak of nature? Bad genes? What would you do?

Kitten with persistant chronic diarrhea!!!!!?

So i have this 5 month old kitten who has had this diarrhea problem ever since I brought him home 3 months ago. So far I have spent hundreds of dollars on several different types of treatment. Can’t seem to get a proper diagnosis or proper treatment yet. Rounds of antibiotics, cortisone shots, deworming, then another deworming, tried switching up the diet. NOTHING has worked! The other thing is that every stool is different. Consistency and color varies from almost clear mucous to light brown, sometimes watery, sometimes thicker, sometimes blood streaked. He does have a tendency to get into table foods or milk, (dishes left out by the kids) but I would say the amount he really ingests is minimal. Also, he would only occasionaly go next to the litter box instead of in it, but now he is constantly going on the floor whether his box is clean or not. He only will do it on the kitchen floor (where the box is) or in my daughters bedroom (ever since he was accidentally shut in there for a few hours) He is otherwise a healthy cat. Gaining weight, normal appetite, normal everything else. I am at my wits end here! Anyone who could give me any kind of insight as to what could possibly be causing not only the diarrhea, but also the going "outside the box" habit, I would greatly appreciate it! Btw, this is a purebred Bengal cat who came with papers and vet check. I paid over 0 for the cat himself, or I would’ve given up and given him back by now!
Just to clarify, when I said I would have given up on a "regular" cat. what I meant was that I would have given it back to the owner because giving away a sickly cat is irresposible of them in the first place. Why should that then become MY problem? It’s like buying a defective product. I didn’t return my kitty in this case because he was from a reputable breeder who sold him to me with PROOF of good health at the time of purchase.

My 4 year old cat who was just at the vet two months ago was found dead in my living room. He was laying in one of his favorite places to sleep, with blood running from his nose. I’ve been researching what different things could have caused this. Heart worms seems to be the general answer, however he was just at the vet and had no blood in his stool. Didn’t notice anything different about him but I was out of town the last 2 days around his death. No vomiting, but his food bowl was full when I returned. I do not know if he wasn’t eating or if it just happened where he died right after I left.

What I think caused it: My apartment had just been sprayed for bugs 4 days prior. I returned to my apartment to find dead insects on my kitchen floor (In addition to my cat). What’s weird though is that the place has been sprayed in the past and it didn’t have any affect on him. Also there was no vomiting which I’m told is a usual sign of poisoning. They possibly may have used a different pesticide this time around. I do think it’s too weird of a coincidence that I return home to find dead bugs and a dead cat.

Please let me know if you have any suggestions, opinions, or if something similar happened to you. I really want to know what happened but at the same time everyone I’ve talked to said that the necropsy is usually inconclusive.
