A male friend of mine met a woman at the begining of the year, 2 weeks ago I got a wedding invite. The wedding is next week.
Inside the invite was info for the registry.
Of the 10 pages, 9 pages have toys, video games, dvds and childrens furniture. 1 page has kitchen supplies and all of the item are purchased.
I asked a friend who is also going to the wedding and apparently, the bride to be is a mother of a 9 year old boy. and most of the registry is filled with things for him.
I know my friend, the groom and he is not one to put up much of a fight about anything.
I’d like to get the new couple some gift certificates to a couples’ spa . my hubby and I went there for the weekend and it was a nice way to spend a few days recovering from the wedding before the honeymoon.
I’ve talked with a few other people about this any they say I have to get something from the registry.
and that the bride will be insulted if I ignore her requests.
would my gift be considered rude?

It’s not a question of "are we ready?" I know we are ready.
Here’s a bit of a back story:
Me and my girlfriend (Ang) have been together for 2 1/2 years so far, and thing (especially lately) have been going wonderful! We sat down and talked about this situation many many times before finally deciding it was time to look for apartments. We’ve straightened out money issues in advance, divided up chores, costs, and just about everything else. We ARE ready to share our lives with eachother, but my question to you guys is:
What should we be preparing for? We already know just about everything about each others living habits already, we spend nearly every night together already. I’m well aware of the fact that you wont simply see the glamorous side anymore, but EVERY side.
And I’m also aware that costs will add up quick for small things like food, toilet paper, paper towels, soap, shampoo, and those kinds of things.
But maybe there’s something I’m overlooking, which is why I come to you.
PS. We already have all the essentials purchased, bedding, furniture, kitchen supplies (lots of those actually, we love to cook together) etc…
Thanks in advance.
Sincerely,
Corey

Sometime last year, I saw on Chronicles or some other Boston show, that a good way to furnish your house is to go to wholesalers that sale to restaurants, furniture stores, hotels, etc…
I’m buying my first house and I’m looking for one of those where I can buy good wine/drinking glasses, flat/silverware, kitchen supplies etc… for cheap. In the episode, they showed places where restaurants buy that were selling wine glasses for about {content}.50-{content}.90/piece but at that time I didn’t need any so I didn’t write it down.
Any idea of places that sell at this price?

I just moved into a 3-bdrm place until school starts (September). The place is unfurnished. Other than a fold up plastic desk, office chair, and minimal kitchen supplies I have nothing else. I’m collecting cardboard boxes for clothes (I have hangers for the closet, but boxes for everything else). I currently have in my bank account to cover groceries and furniture until the next payday (check comes on Friday, the bank’s hold on it will be released by the Tuesday afterwords)
What’s the best way to spend my money? I figure I’ll need at least – for food, because my fridge is almost empty.
I really need something to sleep on… is there anything I can do to make the floor/sleeping bag situation more comfortable?

I have been married 4 yrs and sperarated for what will soon be 2 of those 4 yrs.If you want my reason for wanting a divorce read my last post.I moved out our home only taking my clothing and my dog with me .Our home is paid for so we do not have a morgage will this make a difference in the divorce? We purchased our house for 425 grand but i think all the updates done could raise that amount its worth now.Any stocks/mutual funds we have are under my name does it matter? When i left we had all new furniture, kitchen supplies, and decorations ect. i did not take any of it with me when i left though. Also we have a joint checking account still with 1400 dollars in it and a savings account under both are names with 6 grand in it.How is all this likley to get split?
I worked through out the whole marriage and still do as an interior decorator.Does the fact that my hubby probably made more since he works for software company make any difference?

I am new to the area and we had Old Time Pottery in Florida. It is a large warehouse type retail that had affordable home accessories, fake flowers, kitchen supplies, pottery, art, glassware, outdoor furniture, wicker, etc. Is there anything similar to this near Crystal Lake, IL or Barrington, IL?

I will be moving into an apartment for college, and almost everything I’m buying is new (furniture, kitchen supplies, cleaning supplies, linens, decorations, etc.) so could I just ship everything to my new apartment so that I don’t have to spend like a thousand bucks on U-Haul moving supplies?

I’m moving to Ireland (another country on another continent) for a year and would like some suggestions on what to bring. I’ll be renting a room in a house, so I don’t need to worry about furniture or kitchen supplies.
Other advice anyone would like to offer will surely be appreciated!
