We own the house which is only 4 yrs old. We are renting it. We do not want to carpet it as the renter (a guy) is not the cleanest. Two tiles have been cracked and replaced using paper underneath. That did not work. The laundry room across to the kitchen is cracked. It is not showing a crack on the wood laminate floor in between the laundry room and the kitchen. I do not want to use carpet or wood in the kitchen. What should we use that won’t crack again. Is there something out there that would be good to use and not crack?

How much should i charge for rent?

I have an apartment connected to my house, but they are only connected from a laundry room, the apartment has its own entrance, the apartment has 1 bed room with a lot of space, enough to have a comfortable living room in, 1 kitchen with sink, stove, refrigerator, and a dish washer, and 1 extra room for an office or whatever you would like, a full bath room with a big closet, it also has a full deck with furniture on it. it isn’t going to be furnished completely but it will have a futon and 1 desk and kitchen table.
it is around 1000 square feet
it will have wifi (if that matters)
it is about 14 miles from a major city and about 7 miles from a medium sized town
it is very quiet and the apartment has a view of a pond.
how much do you think i should charge a month?
-thanks

The other morning I noticed a large puddle of water coming out from under my washer. This puddle appeared after I heard a gurgling sound. Last night I was in the kitchen washing the dishes and was running the washer at the same time, when the wash cycle turned over to the rinse cycle and the water was draining from my washer, it began to bubble up out of my kitchen sink! And it was dirty water too…it looked like stuff was floating in it, like the pipes are dirty inside. Why did this happen? It happened again this morning, that when the wash cycle turns over into the rinse, and the rinse cycle turns over into spin cycle, the water bubbles up out of the kitchen sink. The laundry room is inside the bathroom, which is right next to the kitchen. I imagine all of the pipes are connected somehow. My husband thinks the drain leading from the washer is clogged and told me to pour Draino into it. I do not think that is the answer. Thanks for your help!
Good point about the cold weather. I live in the northeast, and we have had several consecutive days where the temperatures have been in the teens and twenties during the day, then in the single digits at night. Maybe that has something to do with it?

Kitchen Decor Question?

My husband and I are buying a new house. We chose dark cherry cabinets with white appliances (stainless steel was more expensive and I don’t particularly like it or black). The trim throughout the house (including the doors) is a pre-finished oak (light brown color). The kitchen has two doors this color in it (one to the garage and the other to the laundry room). The walls will be painted a light tan color and the counters and floors match the cabinets–neither is really dark mostly tan. Do you think this will all look horrible together? What decor can I use to ‘blend’ all the colors??

how much is my house worth?

I am just curious as to what my house value would be in your neck of the woods. I own a 4000 sq 3 level home on 1/2 acre. I have 3 car attached garage and a heated work room. I have 3 bedrooms/3 bathroom (one with whirlpool tube). Master suite has walk in closet and balony. I have a large finished basement with bar and entertainment center (built-in) and pool table. The basement is finished with rustic barnboards on the walls. The main floor has entry, livingroom, dining room, kitchen and laundry room and a bath. Living room has fireplace and built in book shelves. entry is done with slate tile floor. Living room and all of the upstairs is done with Hickory hardwood floors with blk walnut inlay. upstairs has the 3 bedrm and bath and a loft area with built in bookshelves that over looks kitchen and dining.

I am just kinda curious what my house would be worth in your area. Thanks.
don’t forget to tell me where you are at. I know what my house is worth in my area. I am just curious about the housing market in other areas of the US.

Moving into the basement…? I need help!?

Okay, well today me and my mom decided I can move into the basement! Yay! So, I wanted to start planning. I don’t have a clue what to do. It”s really dark down in the basement. Theres barley any windows just two in the laundry room. So, I wanted something really bright. But, not white because that’s boring. So, I have no Idea. I have some furniture but there white. So could you think of something that would match white desk and dresser? I would have to add a bar somewhere for a closet or something. I have a few drawers but I need a little room for a few dresses. I want a new bed comforter any way. And I can re paint it pretty much any way I want. I just need colors and themes for my new room. I can get like lamps and such too. But, nothing too expensive. Please help!

my dog woke up with a limp today…?

last night when i was going to bed she was fine, then about 4:30 in the morning (about 10 minutes ago) she yelps really loud for a couple of minutes, so i go and check on her. (she sleeps in the laundry room with a dog bed and has since she was a puppy) she was waiting at the door and when i let her out she hid behind the chairs at the bar limping. when i checked out the room it was all fine… the window was still locked, no spiders, no mice, nothing.. so i check out her leg and nothing appears to be wrong. do you think she had a bad dream and was using the limp to get attention or something? can dogs get charlie horses/the muscle spasm? what else could it be?

she is an 11 year old bichon frise. (vets say that she is very, very healthy for her age)

How much is my House Worth Now?

i know its hard without pictures or someone to come in and appraise my house but i want a good educated guess on my houses value.

I Bought a New house for 0,000 in myrtle beach sc. the neighborhood is extremely nice and away from all problems, and the neighborhood is recently finished and all the houses are very new and very nice mostly vinyl or brick front and some with craftsmen (kids roam freely without you having to worry.) i had the house built in November in 2008, it was the second to last lot available and most houses in the neighborhood sold for 0,000 and up in previous years with the most expensive house around 0,000. the lot is is cornering to a large pond and is a very nice view. the house sits on a 1/4 acre lot and is around 16,000 sq.ft. with vinyl siding it has a 20×24 garage, full laundry room, 16×14 master bedroom with walk in closet and sliding glass shower in the bathroom with 2 sinks and full mirror. it has 2 12×14 guest bedrooms and a standard full size hallway bathroom. all the rooms are separated from the rest of the house by a hallway. the house is carpet except for the wood floor foyer with a closet and the very open kitchen that has tasteful linoleum (not the ugly cheep linoleum) all the Appliances are stainless steel and has a 3 to 4 chair bar overlooking the vaulted ceiling living room (the living room is huge with a large 62" ceiling fan and sliding door going to the back patio 16×20) it has a full dinning room with chandelier that fits our 6 chair dinning room table and also has enough room to put a full sized marble top liquor and wine bar in the back. the back patio is 12×12.

how do i housebreak my shih tzu?

I have a male Shih Tzu, he’s about 2 yrs. old, neutered, and very much loved. However, everytime he sees a bed he immediately pees or poops on it. We have tried everything…now when his is in the house he is confined in the kitchen/laundry room w/ no hope of parole. How do I break this bizzarre fixation he has with bedroom furniture? It’s driving me crazy!!! Help!

Some feng shui advice for a new home…?

My new house is white and tan throughout, with some green in the master bath & a little blue in the guest bath. Our couch & club chairs are brown. Other furniture is avocado, mauve & black. (The rug makes it work.) Curtains in the living room & master bedding are French blue, we have smoke sheers in the master. It all looks good, but I want to begin planning the walls & accents while ensuring we attract abundance, health, friends & happiness – not the opposite.

By Chinese horoscopes, I am metal, my husband is fire and my kids are both earths. I read a lot about feng shui, but don’t know how to apply it.

I created a Ba-gua:
front door/living room – South
master bedroom – Southwest (head of the bed – Southwest/West wall, MA door faces Northeast)
master bath – Western corner
kitchen & laundry room – Northwest
family room (with fireplace) and office – North
guest room is Northeast
guest bath is East
children’s bedroom is Southeast

What are inherant obstacles? Fixes/Tips?
Last night I went and did a little more digging. My Kua # is 4. My husband’s is 6. Hubby’s year sign is fire sheep and fixed element is fire. By year I am a metal pig and my fixed element is water.

I do find not only is some information I read contradictory, but of course my husband and I are cancelling each other out. 3 1/2 weeks after we moved here I was fired unexpectedly from my job of 3 1/2 years, which is causing terrible financial problems. I am also concerned especially about our health. I am interested in the flying stars method, but don’t know how to apply it, and is it for the whole house or for each room? Thanks very much for your help.

Hi all. My husband and I live in an 1100 sq/ft house with two bedrooms, 1 bathroom, 1 hallway, a laundry room, small kitchen and big living room. We want to have the whole house tiled with carpet in the two bedrooms. When our puppies were growing up they discovered the worn holes in the old carpet and decided to make them bigger, tearing into them like an Easter Ham. (The house is about 26 yrs old and the carpet is at least 10 yrs old)

We are on a budget and are looking for options to save money on installation and materials. We are looking at tile and carpet that costs about per sq/ft and would like to get it installed by someone.

1) Would we really save money doing prep work ourselves? How much would this entail?: Im imagining pulling up the old carpet, pulling out the wood bits and nails, clearing out all the furniture, sweeping… cant think of what else. Is it worth the savings?

2) How much would it be to get it installed? We live in Bakersfield, CA.
BTW thats tile throughout the house and carpet in the two bedrooms (not carpet tiles)
We have thought about doing it ourselves. Maybe we need to revisit that. We have both laid tile before but not carpet. Id rather leave that to professionals cos I dont know it. The main reason why we wanted to get it installed is because it is the whole house not just one room and 5 professionals can come in and do it a lot faster and easier than my husband and I ever could. It would take us weeks and weeks. But maybe we can get relatives to help.

How much money would it cost to by a house?

My friend and I were planning to graduate at 19 and move in to a house together wit at least a 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.About how much would that cost and plus all the furniture for the living room, kitchen, diniing room, bathrooms, laundry room, computer room, and 2 bedrooms but the 2 bedrooms would already have furniture from our old rooms.

I have 1 1/2 acre. Want a gated entrance, circular drive way, doble doors front entrance with pilars; the house to wrap around the pool, so it could be seen from all the rooms (3B/3B)family room, laundry room, kitchen. The pool area will have palm trees, hamacs, an outside kitchen and BBQ pit, pool with jacuzzi, and a wet bar; I love that bring the outside in feeling. Any idea where to find blue prints, or books and pictures.??
