The most embarrassing thing happened today. My dad took me and my older sister out to lunch. Well my dad walks into the resteraunt talking on the phone really loud and we were sitting in the middle of the room. My dad had his chair turned out talking on the phone loud, legs open like he was in a freaking sports bar. I wanted to die. Then when the waiter came my dad sat there for ten minutes making the waiter stand there because he couldn’t find something with both a burrito and beans (we were eating mexican) and he was complaining it wouldn’t be enough food for him omg! Anyways finally he orders and my dads friend who he hasn’t seen in a while comes over and they are sitting there talking all loud and what not and I’m trying to figure out WTF IS WRONG WITH YOU WE ARE IN A FLIPPIN’ RESTERAUNT YOUR A 43 YEAR OLD MAN NOT A 5 YEAR OLD USE SOME MANNERS!! I love my dad but now I’m kind of afraid to go out to eat with him. I don’t know what to do.

Strong Willed Kitten?

I consider myself to be a person that knows a fair bit on cats and there behaviour, i have done alot of reading and have had cats before. My new kitten is 8 weeks old and have had him for over a week now. Obviously being a kitten he is really adorable, he has the cutest whiskers and he curls himself up on my shoulder when i’m watching TV. My only rule is basically stay off the kitchen counter and don’t scratch my furniture. He has a scratching post and is SLOWLY learning to leave my furniture. The kitchen counter is a huge problem tho. Every time i see him on it i either spray him with water or pick him up and put him on the floor while firmly saying NO. He does not seem to get this. He justs run and jumps right back up and then hides behind the kettle as if i can’t see him. I never falter and always take him right back off or spray him again. I feel guilty about the spraying as he is sneezing now. Vet says he is fine. He is very strong willed. Does anyone have any other ideas?
Thanks for the advice. I tried the double sided tape and it seemed to work. He still jumps up tho but i think if he jumps often enough he will eventually start hating the idea of the tape on his paws and maybe stop. I completely understand that cats need to jump and like high places its just that i don’t like him on my kitchen counters as he has easy access to my stove and i’m afraid he will get burned. Also when i’m cooking i don’t like him grabbing the food from my hand so its best all round if he just stays off the kitchen counters at least until he’s a little older and has learned a few more manners.
