I really dont know what im asking but ill explain. I bought a chihuahua on march 10th the people gave me a puppy pack which had a little heart worm pill in it kinda like his shot record and reg. application. i bought the type of food that they told me he had been eating. when i took him home he seemed fine he didnt eat much but he drank water and he was a little active. he chased my little girl through the house it was cute. well i went through papers and seen that his was born on jan. 18th 2009 and he had already had his 6 wks shots but there was no name written down as to who the vet was. next day he was a little less active and still not really eating, and i noticed he was having soft stool almost diareaha and spitting up like a newborn baby does so i tried to call the number for the lady i purchased him from and # disconected. on the 3rd day the 12th my little girl dropped him on the hard kitchen floor. omg i was so scared. he hit on his side and i held him a min. then put him down to make sure he was walking fine. a few hours passed and he still seemed fine but with the other prob. of not eating i said im bringing him to the local animal hospital. i went there and told them everything she said he has fleas which is making him anemic which i had made an apt to go to a vet on the 27th of march to get shots and to treat fleas and then she said his blood sugar low and never mentioned anything about him falling just stayed stuck on the fleas. they gave him a capstar checked his poo and gave him a cerenia injection which i did not understand most of what the lady was saying. she said to go to vet next day. so i bombed my house for fleas next day and took him to a vet he was still vomiting and soft stool. vet really didnt communicate with me much either but he check his poo again looked him over i gave him paperwork from the animal hospital gave him another cerenia injection and a droncit injection and some recovery rs food and told me to litterly force feed him with this dropper thing and gave him frontline plus. he said bring him back on 27th for other shots. im like confused really bc i dont know what wrong with my puppy and now he is constantly sleeping not walking around much or playing he finally drank water by himself today though he just dont seem right ya know. and he stoped vomiting until today he vomited clear liquid up a few times today. march 16th. which i know im gonna call vet tommorow and be like hey he still sick. but idk. can anyone help me and explain anything to me. i am so worried bc he just seem sad. his tale has not wagged since 1st day it stays between his legs. thanks.

What should I change in my story?

Julia hunched over her computer. She was on a pet adoption website. Scrolling through photos of countless dogs she clicked one. Its tongue hung out lazily and bright eyes seemed to gaze excitedly at her. Scrolling down she read its name and breed. It read “Name: Charlie- Age: 9 months- Breed: Terrier” Nine months! That was a whole load younger than her old, boring dog Chomps. When he was a puppy, this name had fit him, but at the age of 9 he should’ve been renamed Old Yawner. Glancing behind her, Chomps was fast asleep on her bed, his pink tongue lolled out from the side of his mouth and twitched his foot in the depths of a dream. Clicking the back button, she searched for a new dog. She was just about to click one when a voice drifted into her room, “Juuuuulia!” Her mother called, “Have you finished your homework.” Julia groaned. She had forgotten all about it. Now she had a page of math, history notes, and an English essay due all tomorrow. She wished she hadn’t saved it to the last minute! “Almost there!” She yelled back. Dragging out her back pack, she quickly did her homework.
Clomping down stairs, she turned into the T.V. room. She heard the familiar panting and heavy paw steps as Chomps followed her down. She slumped into one the couches and turned on Sponge bob, it was the episode where Gary runs away to go and live with Patrick. She wondered if Chomps would do that. Who cares? She thought. Almost on key, Chomps began to whimper. Sighing she got up. “What’s up old guy?” She questioned. He whimpered and whined even more. “Hush! It’s ok! Shhh!” Try to hush the dog didn’t seem to be working. Finally we went quiet. Sinking back into her chair she continued to watch her show. Chomps began to whine again. “Errr.” Hoisting herself up she went over to him. “What now?” She grumbled. Julia put her hand on his head and scratched behind his long and floppy ears. He groaned with delight. A gurrr, she thought, a dogs purr. “Now,” she said, “If you cry again I will be very annoyed. Got that?” Chomps stared at her. His big brown eyes were wide. “Oh, I hate when you do that look!” Sitting down she rubbed his belly and watched her show.
“Hello!” Julia called as she got in the house. She had just gotten off the school bus. It had been a particularly cold walk from down the street. It had snowed that night before and the wind was bitter. She heard the thumping of steps as Chomps came dashing towards her. Bowling her over, he licked her ears and face. “Eww! Chomps stop that!” Wiping the dog slobber off her face she glowered at Chomps. “Hello Julia! How was school?” Her mom asked, suddenly towering over her. “Fine. Until Chomps came and nearly licked me to death!” Her mother laughed. “What? It’s not funny!” Her mother stopped laughing, but a smile never left her face.
It was Friday. She thought about what to do on the upcoming weekend. Then it hit her. I know! I will see if I can go to the animal shelter! She could meet that cute little dog Charlie! Following her mom into the kitchen, she sat in one of the counter stools and watched as her mother unloaded the dish washer. “What are we going to do over the weekend?” She asked. “Well, Chomps is going into the vet for a check-up tomorrow.” Her mother replied. “Fun! Are they going to tell you again how chomp is still five pounds overweight and to stop feeding him table scraps?” Julia said scornfully. “You can be very critical sometimes! You wait and see until one day you feel bad about that!” Her mother scolded. Julia glared angrily at her mother. She over reacts to much! Julia thought with anger. She stormed up to her room and flung the door shut. She threw herself to her bed and yelled. Luckily, the mattress muffled the sound so only she could hear it. Then, something banged on her door making the knob shutter. “Go away mom!” She growled. The knob still jiggled. “I said, GO. AWAY.” The knob still jiggled. Furious she swung open her door. “In walked Chomps. “Oh, it’s just you.” Walking back to her bed she let herself fall forward onto it. The bed sunk next to her. Chomp was curled up against her. She didn’t mind. Burring her face in his medium length brown her she let herself be comforted.
It was Saturday morning. Julia’s mother had already left to bring Chomps to the vet for his monthly check up. She thought about yesterday afternoon when chomps had comforted her and let her sleep on his warm fur. Chomp’s is a good friend, She thought. She thought about going online again to look at all those cute puppies. She decided not to. For some reason she felt wrong doing that. She wondered why. She began to think about Charlie the terrier, but instead of that nine month old dog, a picture formed in her mind of a nine year old dog. Chomps, She thought. She sat downstairs on the sofa, catching up on her reading. The doorbell rang. Annoyed she wondered who it might be. Marking her page she got up
I know, Im not the most talented writer but I have to write a dumb story for english tomorow.

I know the main character is a brat.

my dog woke up with a limp today…?

last night when i was going to bed she was fine, then about 4:30 in the morning (about 10 minutes ago) she yelps really loud for a couple of minutes, so i go and check on her. (she sleeps in the laundry room with a dog bed and has since she was a puppy) she was waiting at the door and when i let her out she hid behind the chairs at the bar limping. when i checked out the room it was all fine… the window was still locked, no spiders, no mice, nothing.. so i check out her leg and nothing appears to be wrong. do you think she had a bad dream and was using the limp to get attention or something? can dogs get charlie horses/the muscle spasm? what else could it be?

she is an 11 year old bichon frise. (vets say that she is very, very healthy for her age)

We have had our "Cockalier" puppy since March she is 9 months old and she chews on everything. I have tried taking the "bad" item out of her mouth swatting her on the nose with a firm "NO" and then giving her one of her chew toys. That doesn’t work and I don’t believe that beating her will do any good. I don’t want to keep her crated all day so I gate her in our kitchen which is rather large while I am at work. To avoid the mess her chewing makes I took all of the furniture out of the kitchen and she started chewing on the cabinets. She has several different kinds of chew toys because I thought it would help. I have tried putting products that taste bad on hard surfaces but the real problem is when she takes clothing out of laundry baskets and chews them up I can’t put those products on fabric that I intend to wear. I am really at a loss of what to do with her. I cant let her into the rest of the house unsupervised for even a minute because I am worried she will continue to ruin more clothes, blankets, rugs, etc. I don’t want to get rid of her because her chewing is the only problem we have with her and she is good tempered with children and I have on on the way.

I ONLY WANT ANSWERS FROM PEOPLE WHO KNOW WHAT THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT AND HAVE SOME KIND OF EXPERIENCE WITH THIS SITUATION

Puppy Training Nightmare – Advice Please!?

My husband and I got an Australian Shepherd and had no problem house breaking her (she is over a year now), but she seemed lonely while we were gone and we decided to get her a friend. We picked up a 3 month old Border collie from the humane society thinking same size, intelligence, energy level, and so on. This puppy has given us the worst time of my life for the passed 2 months with housebreaking and overall training issues. I’m on the verge of getting rid of him, even though I would never have considered it before.
First off we’ve learned we cannot crate him because he simply will not have it. He whines, yelps, barks, throws up, pees, poops, digs at the bars and plastic, and this can go on for the entire night until we get up to let him out. This behavior continued for a week until we decided it was not fair to us to lose sleep over, and got rid of the crate.
Since we’ve started letting him stay in his own bed at the foot of our bed he does very well. He will sleep the entire night through without having any accidents, and will not try to jump on the bed or anything. As soon as we lay down he lays in his bed and goes to sleep. In the morning however when he decides it’s time to wake up he sits next to the bed and whines so I get up with him to let him out. If I don’t he throws up.
He seems to have the attitude that if he doesn’t get what he wants, he leaves presents for you around the house. If I go out to check the mail and don’t let him follow me, he pees on the couch, the bed, and on the kitchen rugs. If I don’t let him follow me into every room he leaves a puddle right outside the door that I’ve shut. If I don’t feed him dinner at 5 pm exactly, he pees. (We live on a military base and the songs go off that the dogs hear for their cues to eat dinner.) If I try to trim his nails he bites, which isn’t very hard since he’s so small, but still.
I’ve researched a lot on separation anxiety, and I followed steps there, but it doesn’t seem to help either. I tried not letting the dog follow me, but I gave up on that one because I need to watch him constantly. I don’t pay attention to him when he whines at me for attention. I praise him for appropriate behavior such as lying down on the floor, playing with his own toys, etc. I reward the dog every time he goes outside.
We don’t allow the dog on the furniture at all, but he gets up there when we’re gone. I realize I should lock him up while we’re gone, but if I do lock him up, I have to understand that there will be more holes of paint and drywall missing from wherever I lock him up, and if no t that, then also torn up furniture, carpeting, papers, or anything he can find.
I let my dog out at least every 2 hours because he is 5 months old, he runs out, goes to the bathroom runs a little, goes to the bathroom again, and then comes back in. He doesn’t always give me signals when he needs to go out so I have to follow the schedule.
Sometimes he pees himself while lying on the floor and try to hide it. He lies on top of his pee and licks himself to clean it off. I’ve scolded him when I caught him peeing and I put him outside immediately, and reward him for going outside. Back inside I make him watch me clean up the mess while telling him in a lower voice that he does not pee in the house, which he will sit there with his ears back just watching.
I’ve also tried scaring him into not peeing, but yelling very loudly and startling him when I catch him peeing on the couch or the bed, but that doesn’t work either.
I just don’t think a dog should make my life so conditional, especially since the other dog is so well behaved. I like the dog; he can be cute and fun to have around, and I don’t feel right giving up on him because his behavior needs adjusting, but I need some advice here.

Is my older dog a bad influence to my puppy?

I got a puppy a few months ago, Kiko and I’m afraid he may be learning some bad habits from my older dog, D.W. D.W. always eats off the kitchen floor, steers clear of sewage drains on walks, leaps on the furniture, and sneaks food out of trashcans. My puppy has been picking up on some off the habits, he always watches her. In the end, does he look to his fellow dogs for guidance, or me? Please help, and thanks in advance.

Pug marking furniture–is he jealous??

I have a 2 year old pug–raised him from a puppy, good dog, sweet dog–also have 2 cats and a female cocker. this crazy dog–after just being outside–will jump on my couch–and pee-not a good long whiz-just enough to mark it. tonight he p-’d on the couch and then went right to the love seat and did the same. he is not nuetered–shows no signs of humping anything.
He has jumped on my bed–out of now where-p’d on the pillow–now too he is peeing alot in my kitchen where he stays alot all day. He just started doing this. Is he just jealous of all the other animals. I have bought the spray to spray on furniture–nothing works. I am about to send this lil guy to Iraq to sniff out IED’s..
he is not neutered–I think its mean..

We clean up immediately when he goes in the house… but sometimes he’ll go in a corner behind the furniture and we don’t see it right away… and later we’ll catch him running through the house with a large turd hanging from his mouth. Once he pooped in the corner behind the kitchen table and ate it… and we know b/c there was "remnants" of puppy poop on the floor. nasty nasty boy.

My husband has two dogs from before we met. He has trained them that it’s okay to jump up and lick food off the kitchen counter, jump up on people, and jump up on the furniture. The dogs are both nine years old (sister and brother, border collies). He wants to get a new puppy sometime soon to "carry on the pack", since one of these two will peg out in a few years. How do I train the new puppy properly, and NOT to follow in the disgusting habits of these two dogs?? My husband will continue to do as he sees fit ,when I’m not here.
MegaNerd: OKAY, bitter old DIVORCED man, where did you get YOUR AKC cert from, a Crackerjack box??

My 3 year old daughter won’t stop chewing on the furniture. I understod it when she was teething but all her teeth are in now and she still chews. Her bed, my entertainment center, the kitchen table and chairs, and today I caught her with a rolling pin, she’s worse than a puppy and I’m out of ideas. The doctor said she’ll out grow it but soon I won’t have a house left. Somebody please help me.

I ended up with a dog and I am having so much trouble getting him house trained. He was a lost dog so I am not sure his background. He is small and I think he is a terrier/poodle. The guy at Petsmart says he around 3 years old. I have tried so hard to get him to go outside but since at this point he isnt trained at all, I want to teach him to use pads. He pees and poops on the carpet even though I have been consistant. He has a crate that is a little large for him to just lie down and turn around. I did my best to make the inside of the crate smaller by stacking 3 large phone books but he still pees and poops in his area of the crate. His stools are formed so I know he isnt sick. Because of my disability (severe neck injury), I’ve decided to train him to use puppy pads. I put the pad on the floor but he will never use it, he would rather just go on the carpet. I used the pad to soak up an area where he pee’d but he still doesnt use the pad. I want so bad to keep him but if I can’t get him trained, its not going to be possible. He is such a good dog and I feel like its my fault he is not getting it. Some stats about him:
1. He doesn’t circle when he pee’s. He sometimes raises his leg and sometimes just squats.
2. I have him on a light-weight leash most of the time. Bedroom doors are closed off.
3. I have to have him on the leash when he’s not in the crate because the opening between my
kitchen/living room is too large for a puppy/baby gate.
4. He sleeps in his crate.
Please be kind when advising, I really want to do it right and help him learn to potty on the pad but I have no idea how to do this. I need help and would appreciate any help. I am hoping to be able to let stay out of the crate while we are at work and school, but to do that he has to be trained.
Would a dog litter box be better?

Puppy Problems… HELP!!!?

Our new puppy (who has been with us for 2 weeks) is a pain in our butts,(husband and I), she has runny stools (she is going to the vet today, I know she has worms) and she has actually pooped on our bed. So we make her sleep in the kitchen with a baby gate up with access to food and water and toys. Problem- SHE WON’T SLEEP and CRIES ALL NIGHT LONG. We have tried a ticking clock, puppy heated bed, white noise, dog silent trainer, water bottle, and a can with pennies in it…

Our neighbors are fed up, my husband and I are on the verge of a meltdown (I may be pregnant, and he works early and needs sleep and s do I)

We have a pug and poodle now who have always been angels, never had this problem because they knew that the bed is for sleeping and not for pooping.

The puppy has also ruined out house with her runny poop…

What would you do? She is on the verge on getting my husband and I to fight and snapp at each other,

PLEASE HELP ME! I’m at a loss…

I had 2 cats, one dies, and now he is without his sister. We had gotten a puppy before my other cat passed away, hoping they would get along, they don’t. He hates the puppy. He used to urinate on clothes, furniture, etc, but now does it almost daily.

Can my toddler be around a dog with worms?

I rescued a puppy two nights ago and after a trip to the vet, found out she has worms. The vet gave her a dewormer. I have been keeping her in the kitchen, with paper, but my two-year-old keeps begging to play with her. She isn’t lethargic or anything. Obviously, I know not to let him near her stool and we’re keeping that cleaned up well, but can he play with her as long as she is clean?
He doesn’t put anything in his mouth, actually. He’s almost 3.

My puppy knows when it’s a work day. As I am getting ready for work he is playful and listens. As soon as he sees me put on my suit he runs and hides under the couch or under the bed or wherever he can. It’s only when I get ready for work though. If it’s the weekend and I’m going out and put on a pair or jeans he doesn’t run or hide. It doesn’t matter which suit I put on either it’s the same thing. So I spend time chasing him around the house to try and catch him. moving furniture sometimes…. just so I can put him in the kitchen 4 when I go 2 work as he is not potty trained yet. I even come home to check on him during breaks. So why is my dog doing this? How can I get him to go to the kitchen when it’s time 4 me to go 2 wk? I have tired treats and toys non of which worked. Any ideas? It’s driving me crazy!
