I have a collection of these ceramic jars http://www.amazon.co.uk/Henry-Watson-Original-Suffolk-Storage/dp/B000LCR8KC
I love interior decorating, but I can’t say I’m great at it. I’m looking for ideas to help match these jars in my kitchen (and maybe help tie in from the other rooms.)
The kitchen has honey colored cabinets with black hardware. The counters are a fake granite….dark green, grey, beige. The walls are painted a light grey. All the appliances are white. Hardwood floors, oak color. The dining and living room which lead into the kitchen are E. Indian decor…bright colors and very "gawdy." (reds, oranges, gold, etc.)
What do you suggest for my kitchen to tie in the jars (they were passed on from family, so I want to keep them?) Specifically looking for ideas/colors for rugs, wall decor, towels, counter decor, etc.
Thanks so much in advance!

My Mom scattered mothballs all over the house to get rid of a opossum on our deck and the smell is now in the downstairs family room and it is seriously stanky! How do I remove the smell from the carpet, furniture, and rugs?
i am not going to handwash my carpet, furniture, and rugs with soap or shampoo, It will take too long and possibly damage them.

We got a new dog a few months back, he is a one year old half lab/half husky, we had him house broken for a couple weeks, but for about a month now it seems he has no interest in holding urine or stool and will even go if we are in another room of the house, i.e. the shower. Both of our dogs are together in the house on just the main floor that is three small rooms, all with no rugs. We absolutely can not put him in a crate, unless someone has a a better idea because we came home for 5 days straight to him with a bloody and swollen nose from literally digging at the metal bars of the crate, we put him in a wicker crate we had from our other dog that he chewed through in several spots. We are struggling to get him to let us know when he needs to go out instead of just going where he wants to or not holding it at all. We let him out if he gets hyper or we notice he walks out of the room and we give him treats every time he goes outside…we don’t know what to do about accidents he has during the day or letting us know he needs out. Frustrated! Any help would be appreciated.

There are bars that are not very large but are cozy, with comfortable rugs and many wooden furniture, dim light and friendly bartenders, with beautiful girls in tight jeans, great live music or CD player, pool and excellent snacks. Do you know a place like this?

We have had our "Cockalier" puppy since March she is 9 months old and she chews on everything. I have tried taking the "bad" item out of her mouth swatting her on the nose with a firm "NO" and then giving her one of her chew toys. That doesn’t work and I don’t believe that beating her will do any good. I don’t want to keep her crated all day so I gate her in our kitchen which is rather large while I am at work. To avoid the mess her chewing makes I took all of the furniture out of the kitchen and she started chewing on the cabinets. She has several different kinds of chew toys because I thought it would help. I have tried putting products that taste bad on hard surfaces but the real problem is when she takes clothing out of laundry baskets and chews them up I can’t put those products on fabric that I intend to wear. I am really at a loss of what to do with her. I cant let her into the rest of the house unsupervised for even a minute because I am worried she will continue to ruin more clothes, blankets, rugs, etc. I don’t want to get rid of her because her chewing is the only problem we have with her and she is good tempered with children and I have on on the way.
I ONLY WANT ANSWERS FROM PEOPLE WHO KNOW WHAT THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT AND HAVE SOME KIND OF EXPERIENCE WITH THIS SITUATION

We have shopped IKEA for a few years now, and honestly, everything we have purchased except for some kitchen towels are crap…furniture has scratches, the glasses have chips or have broken and the rugs look gross. Now..we don’t have kids and I have a full time maid, so I know it’s not because we live more grossly than others. What do you think about IKEA?

I know what you’re asking yourself "Why orange?! EWW!"
Well to make a long story short, my sister and I are college students who are fed up with dorm life, so we decided to rent a house (unfortunately it’s the only house available a week before school, so beggars cannot be choosers).
Every single room excluding the kitchen and bathroom have a hideous orange/burnt-orange carpet (I’m not sure which one it is so i put both).
What colors and themes can we use to decorate it?
Please note that I would like to avoid putting pictures of carrots and tomatoes on my wall (that was my mothers suggestion…)
I would like advice on colors of rugs, curtains, furniture, etc.
and possible themes I could use.
Everyone keeps telling my sister and I to use our own personal style, I consider myself to have a conservative yet fun style, but it doesn’t include orange (can you tell this is traumatizing me? lol)
Any help at all would be wonderful and I would really appreciate it!

My goal is to move out of my mom and dad’s house in 7 months. I want to start saving for all the furniture and other items I’ll need (nobody has anything free to give me) What are the essentials for a first time apartment? I already know about, bedroom set, living room furniture, kitchen table and chairs, cooking appliences and bathroom items (i.e. towels, rugs and shower curtins). Am I missing anything? And do you think putting away ,000 a month would be a reasonale if I plan to move out in 7 months? Does anybody know where I can get cheap but stylish furnitre? Sorry for all the questions.

I moved into a 2 bed, livingroom, dining room and teeny kitchen apartment and I’m allowed to paint. It’s a brownstone, so there is lots of antique door frames and trim Everywhere! All the trim must be Pure White Glossy according to my landlord. With all that white and also being a beginner at painting I thought of all the colors I have loved (Aqua/turquoise, avocado, chocolate, sage, deep reddish orange) but realized that most of those colors are already in either my rugs, pillows, art or furniture. After lots of hair pulling and indecisiveness I finally figured I’d stick to light neutrals.
But what white goes with Ultra Pure White? And doesn’t just look dull or dingy against it? I want to get the whole apartment done in one paint job so I’d like to stick to one or just a few complimentary shades of white in all the rooms. I’ve considered Off-white? What do you think? If it helps, the floors are golden wood, and the wood on the furniture is sorta walnut (medium shades).

he has ripped up the vinyl in my kitchen, chewed the trim on door frames, trim off walls(chair rail), coffee tables, beds ~ headboard, footboard, dressers, throw rugs, you name it he has eaten it or chewed it up. He does this even if we are in the next room. He is so distructive he is making my life miserable. He has plenty of toys and chew things like raw hides, etc. Open for suggestions… I love him to much to get rid of him…. please advise ~ stressed out!!!!!

I am moving into a friends townhouse January 1st. The place is furnished except for my room. I have all the furniture, but I was wondering if I’m missing the other things I need.
I have all bathroom things (I think)
shower curtain
garbage
towels
cleaning supplies
rugs
garbage bags
kitchen
spatulas
pots and pans
I know I have more but I don’t remeber. What are some other things I really need when I’m just moving in?

My cat Brodie is a beautiful 3 year old Torti DSH. She’s de-clawed and has all her shots. She isn’t the most affectionate cat but when the mood hits her she can be very cuddly.
I love my cat to death but I cannot have people come to my house without her freaking out at them. I mean hissing, growling and on occasion dropping feces. After a minute or two she’d go hide and meow for awhile then calm down and come out.
Soon she started having these seemingly random freak-attacks at me. They don’t happen often and as far as I know they are totally unprovoked. For example I would walk from the living room to the kitchen and she would freak. She’s not near food or any of her toys when it happens so I have no idea what could be causing it. Also, after about 10 minutes or so of her meowing under a couch or whatever, she would come to me and want to cuddle as if nothing was ever wrong.
These past couple weeks she has started peeing on furniture and rugs. I keep her litter clean she gets fresh food and water everyday and nothing in my daily life has changed so I don’t think it can be that she is upset.
Things are getting really bad for me, the smell and the stress of dealing with her is making it very hard to let her cuddle or play with me. What can I do to help her?

I’m 19 and about to move into my first rental apartment. My bedroom, kitchen, and bathroom are going to have sage green accents (towels, curtains, rugs).
What should I do about my living room? I have a light brown hand-me-down couch so far. I’d like to buy another chair and some accents in either sage green or teal.
If I choose teal, would it look out of place since the rest of the apartment is going to mostly be sage green? Since I’m just renting, I won’t be painting walls. I’m just focusing on furniture and accents.
