I live in a newer house in the Pacific Northwest. My landlords (my parents) don’t want me to paint any of the walls since it was freshly painted in November… too bad the color is an off-white/creme, creme trim & tan carpet. My couch is a tan leather so it all blends way too much. Our kitchen is mahogany with blue/grey/green stone floors & black appliances. What colors would go good for the great room (living, kitchen, dining)… without having to paint the walls?
I tried getting really colorful artwork (our theme is along the spanish-mexican heritage, our favorite vacation spot) but it still seems lacking… would rugs, painted furniture, curtains help out? I’m also on a tight budget… prefer not to spend anything over .00 on decorating items… do you know of any websites or stores in the state of Washington that could help me?
Best answer gets points!

Ok I want your opinion. My room is really boring right now and my parents and I are about to have a garage sale. I’m practically selling everything except for necessities. I have an idea for my room but it would cost so much money it would take 5 years to earn all the money! But I want to know if you guys like this idea:
Walls: a light, creamy brown color with black music notes dancing across.
Rug/floor: heres a link to the rug: http://www.pbteen.com/products/p124/?pkey=cgirls-rugs and I was going to get it in the tan/white
Furniture: I was thinking about buying a white moon chair, a cheap 50$ couch, A 5 head floor lamp in brown (can someone give me a link to one? i can’t find one anywhere!), and a mic stand and bar chair for sitting when i play guitar.
Remember im 11 and in 5 years ill be 16 so any ideas i could do that i might like when im 16? thx

I would like to pick your brains about some chairs I have in my classroom at the high school where I work. The chairs are rolling office chairs and the floor is linoleum.
The wheels can be removed, but, without the wheels, the chair is not usable to sit on because the pole in the center of the chair base comes down farther than where the wheels are attached.
There is no money in the budget for new chairs (there are 33 of them), rugs or cushions under the chairs, or to carpet the room.
The wheels are made of plastic. There is a small metal axle between the two sides of a wheel leaving space between them. The top half (but not the sides) of the wheel unit is covered by a plastic outer shell.
Anyone have any ideas?
Thank you!

6 years ago we put in hardwood floors. Unfortunatly, they have become very "distressed" under our kitchen stools.
is there a product …oil or wax..or something I can use to keep them looking better (short of refinishing them or useing tile/rugs) the rest of the floor is in perfect conditions…I have put felt pads under the stool legs to no avail.

What color of sofa should I use. I have a black leather daybed similar to this one http://www.thefurniture.com/store/proddetail.asp?prod=Zuo-Ibiza-Daybed-500095&cat=108 and unfortunately I have to keep it in my living room even if it does not match the decor.
I have a glass TV table for my huge plasma tv. Its a rental place so I cannot change anything. There are lovely antique gold light fixtures on the walls. Also I have 2 beautiful rugs- one is a lovely navy blue rug with deep red and cream design on it and another rug that is deep red with cream on it. I dont know which rug to use. The floor is hardwood. I could buy a different rug too. I now need to tie the whole look together. Orange walls, white ceiling, blue rug. deep red rug/other rug, a black leather daybed. I am thinking abt adding a palm tree and need to get bar stools for the kitchen island and a long narrow coffee table. Its a one bedroom 850 sq ft rental.
I always wanted a tropical look but it wont work here I guess. I need lots and lots of help please.
