Is my dog at risk from parvo?

I’m really asking what should i do. I’m so upset, so I’ll describe the circumstances and hopefully somebody can help. My roommate’s (who has her own room) puppy has parvo. My dog is about a year and a half and had his last parvo vaccine 4 months ago. she keeps her puppy in her room most of the time, only taking him out to the bathroom twice a day. then, he walks through the apartment. She has only sanitized his crate and some of his toys. I don’t think she is taking this seriously enough. she isn’t cleaning up his stool and she hasn’t bleached anything in the apartment. I cleaned the bathroom and kitchen with bleach solution- the rest of the apartment is carpeted. I stayed in a hotel for 2 nights, after coming home from spring break, because she hadn’t cleaned. I hate how she treats me and her dogs, but I know it is up to me to make sure this is a safe place to live for me, my dog, and the other dogs in the apartment complex. Is my dog in danger of contamination? how can i sanitize the carpets?

She is particularly bad about chewing on things when she is put outside. She eats our plants (prefers flowers) and just today she ripped up a cushion on one of our patio furniture chairs. I purchased some bitter spray (rosemary) from PetsSmart but it doesn’t seem to work. We give her chew toys but it seems she would rather chew other things. She seems to exhibit this behavior when she is left alone outside in our yard. When I bring her inside she is less likely to chew on things but I can’t have a dog that lives inside exclusively.

My dog keeps running into people…?

I have a three year old shetland sheepdog named Peso and he keeps running into people and furniture. I know he isn’t blind, because we love playing fetch with him and he likes to play with toys and follow people around. Whenever he is walking around or running in the house- and sometimes on his walks- he runs into people or furniture. Like today, I was walking to my living room from my bedroom and he was following me. He ran into a big bar stool and he knocked it over and broke it. It was like he had his eyes closed or something. Is something wrong with him, or is it just a dog thing? Thanks a lot.

I adopted a 7 month puppy around 7 weeks ago. She hates being confined and hates being left alone. She ate through the first crate I got her which had plastic sides. I got a new one with metal bars on the sides, and she tries to eat through the metal, but can only bend the metal bars so far.

I have been able to coax her into her crate with treats for the first 7 weeks, but she is now wise to being locked in before I leave for work, and she won’t go anywhere near it when I try to coax her in.

The last two mornings, I have had to pick her up and try to force her into the crate. Then she tries to run out. Today I had to spank her and yell at her, which I hate to do, as I know the crate is supposed to the a "happy place."

In the evening, she willingly enters the crate to play with toys and chew on a bone. Just as long as the door is open and she knows she won’t be locked in, she seems to like to go into the crate.

So what can I do? I tried to leave her in the house unattended, but she became destructive, and I don’t want my house to be destroyed.

For various reasons, I cannot leave her in my back yard all day, and I don’t have a garage…

I’ve thought about "chaining" her to a heavy piece of furniture during the day when I’m at work…

If I cannot find a way to keep her and my house safe during the day when I’m at work, I’m afraid I will have to take her back to the dog pound, which I hate to do, because at this point the puppy and I are very close!

i have a 1 year american bulldog. he is very lovable, and is potty trained, and obeys commands such ass sit, go outside, come, etc the basic. but he enjoys biting the patio furniture. lately all he does is turn over all the chairs, the rocking chairs, and cushions. we have plenty of chew toys and things for him to play with when we’re not around (he only does this when we’re not around.) we have already gone through 2 beds, he chews them open to take out the fluffy part inside of it. he give him plenty of excersise, and play with him every afternoon and take him to the dog park 2x’s a week. i’ve tried the sour apple stuff but t’s not working, i think he likes it. what else can i do? we always tell him no and ignore him and he know we are upset with him, but he doesn’t care. it’s funny cause when i walk up to a turned over chair or rocking chair and i look at him to tell him now, he already knows and bows his head and lays, like saying yea i know i wasn’t supposed to lol.
another issue i have is when we tie him up because we need to work on the yard or have company over that he needs to be tied, he does not stop barking. it is so annoying, we can never have him tied up.
has plenty of chew toys and the only reason why we tie him when we’re working on the yard, is cause if i am cleaning the pation with soap and water he just continues to dirty it, if i tie him, i clean, i finish and when it drys he can get un tied and continue playing.

help! my 3 year old is driving me insane!!!?

Im starting to feel like a failure as a mom. Very recently my three (well, 2 and 11 month) year old started being very uncontrollable. He has learned how to take down his gates so he has free rein of the house and constantly pulls things out of cabinets, finds something to use as a stool and gets on the counters, will NOT go to bed, is hitting and yelling… Im going crazy! we spank, we use time out, we take away toys and nothing is working! bed time is the worst, he wont stay in his room and it’s gotten to the point where we’ll just lock him our room with us and he’ll run around and jump on our bed while we sleep, sometimes until 2 in the morning (he only naps from 2-4??). Im finding myself getting so frustrated I’ll sometimes get rough with him by grabbing his arm or pushing him out of the kitchen and I hate being like that. please give me advice! tell me this is stage and he’ll turn back into an angel soon, or tell me how I can prevent some of this. If I make myself sound like a bad parent and you feel the need to tell me that please don’t bother, I already feel like crap. Thanks for the help!

can anyone help me with my guinea pig please?

I’ve had my guinea pig for a couple weeks, my friend gave him to me. I have a good cage, food, drink, hiding place, bedding and a pillow for him so that’s covered.
But he’s very anti social and skiddish. when ever i walk past his cage he flips out, i have to chase him around the cage to get him out, [he's fine once hes being held, though, kinda fidgety, tries to hide from me in the handkerchief i hold him in]
and right now i have him pinned in the kitchen [guinea safe] so he can run around [cause i read that balls are a BIG no-no] but he wont run around, he’s hiding under a stool and wont come out :[ i put his food and toys in there and i’m just afraid that he will be unhealthy or sad.
what can i do?

My 3 month old puppy is acting insane!?

He has never been like this. I got him a little more than a week ago. He sleeps in my room with the door closed so he doesn’t run off and do something… bad. So just tonight for some reason he’s almost literally bouncing off of my walls asking for me to open the door. I’m thinking he needs to go potty but we go outside and he doesn’t. We come back in my room and he does the same thing again. I’m very curious as to why he wants me to open the door so I just do it and he runs to the kitchen and one of his toys are on the stool so I give it to him and we come back. Nope…still a maniac. I tried giving him a snack, water, anything. My brother came home and walked him for like a mile and he comes back still as hyper. I have no idea what to do. He’s crazy whining and stuff. I don’t know what he wants!
Yeah I wish he could just tell me haha. He doesn’t have fleas actually we just got rid of them. And our vet appointment is tomorrow morning anyway. I guess i’ll see :/

Do you have some newborn AIOs that your little one has grown out of?

I would like to set up a trade.

I have a couple of really cool bouncers with activity bars, portable high chair you strap to kitchen chair and can also take to restaurants, toys, an activity center, mats you put on the ground with things to play with etc. that I can trade you.

I am willing to discuss in detail my trade items if you have what I need and will make sure you are getting your money’s worth.

I live in Anaheim, CA; but I am willing to ship the item you want too.
I would be willing to try the fitted/covers combo if you want to trade.

I would be willing to try almost anything. It is just that I don’t own any prefolds that are newborn size so whatever system I use for the newborn, I would have to get the entire system because I don’t have any other pieces from my current system (that she will start when she is a size small) that will work.

If you can, please help.

I have tried everything. I have 14 year old cat that has changed her behaviors all the sudden. Nothing in our house has changed and the other cat is fine. In addition to meowing constantly and peeing everywhere, she all the sudden is clawing everything, including our expensive leather bar stools, pool table, and pool table cover. I have set her up with clawing toys and boards. I have tried to file her nails and that was definitely not successful. I’ve also put sprays and aluminum down but she is not deterred. Either I may have to declaw her or I may have to get rid of her. Please help!

We have had our "Cockalier" puppy since March she is 9 months old and she chews on everything. I have tried taking the "bad" item out of her mouth swatting her on the nose with a firm "NO" and then giving her one of her chew toys. That doesn’t work and I don’t believe that beating her will do any good. I don’t want to keep her crated all day so I gate her in our kitchen which is rather large while I am at work. To avoid the mess her chewing makes I took all of the furniture out of the kitchen and she started chewing on the cabinets. She has several different kinds of chew toys because I thought it would help. I have tried putting products that taste bad on hard surfaces but the real problem is when she takes clothing out of laundry baskets and chews them up I can’t put those products on fabric that I intend to wear. I am really at a loss of what to do with her. I cant let her into the rest of the house unsupervised for even a minute because I am worried she will continue to ruin more clothes, blankets, rugs, etc. I don’t want to get rid of her because her chewing is the only problem we have with her and she is good tempered with children and I have on on the way.

I ONLY WANT ANSWERS FROM PEOPLE WHO KNOW WHAT THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT AND HAVE SOME KIND OF EXPERIENCE WITH THIS SITUATION

Rude wedding gift?

A male friend of mine met a woman at the begining of the year, 2 weeks ago I got a wedding invite. The wedding is next week.

Inside the invite was info for the registry.
Of the 10 pages, 9 pages have toys, video games, dvds and childrens furniture. 1 page has kitchen supplies and all of the item are purchased.

I asked a friend who is also going to the wedding and apparently, the bride to be is a mother of a 9 year old boy. and most of the registry is filled with things for him.

I know my friend, the groom and he is not one to put up much of a fight about anything.
I’d like to get the new couple some gift certificates to a couples’ spa . my hubby and I went there for the weekend and it was a nice way to spend a few days recovering from the wedding before the honeymoon.

I’ve talked with a few other people about this any they say I have to get something from the registry.
and that the bride will be insulted if I ignore her requests.
would my gift be considered rude?

Someone help me decipher my dream?

I drove up to an abandoned house with my mom, because my husband told me that he really wanted me to see it. I walk into a side door that lead directly into the dining room. The dining room is trashed, the floor is caved in and there is dust, leaves, and debris everywhere. The ceiling is so beautiful with vaulted ceilings and a chandelier. I walk around the hole into the kitchen that is pretty average- looks clean and i like the cabinets. We continue to walk around to the front door where there is a family/living room right off the hallway. In the living room it looks like someone is still living there. It’s clean, with toys, a tv, full of dvds and videos and furniture. From there we enter the foyer and I can’t take my eyes off of the floor it’s such beautiful woodwork. I can’t shake the feeling that a family just disappeared from this house it’s so old. We leave and end up buying the house for ,999.
