My puppy has dark stool?

My puppy has been having darker stools lately. His stool isn’t black but it’s a dark brown color and his poop is of a smaller amount then before. There are no traces of bloods or worms. He’s eating fine, drinking water regularly, and as active as can be – basically, he seems normal. Also, he goes to the bathroom less.

I switched him over to Innova Puppy. And yesterday, he jumped onto the counter and ate half a can of Spam. The stool was already dark before this incident though. (My mom feeds his table scraps occasionally. She promised she’s going to stop though.)

I’m taking him to the vet tomorrow. So my question is, how dark does a puppy’s stool have to be to be unhealthy?

His is a little lighter then the color of dark coffee, and around the color of brown coffee. I’m not sure if that makes sense so..

His stool is similar to that color.
Since the picture is in the corner, my computer views it as black until I move myself to look at it directly. So I’m just saying, his stool isn’t black.
The stool is usually solid and at the end, it gets a little soft. Usually they’re in two pieces. No I cannot see any undigested food pieces. His butt seems fine and not irritated. He goes very easily. And Innova isn’t a dark colored food.

what happened to my dead dog?

On the 21st is a month since my dog’s death and I feel a little better to ask about what happened to him to get closure. We were on the couch one evening and he started yelping so loudly, one of the most terrifying sounds I have ever heard my dog make And he ran inside my room and ran under my bed where he began dragging himself all over the place. I dragged him from under my bed and his eyes were rolling back and he was shaking…i was frantic had no idea what to do so I ran to the kitchen and wet a towel and put it over his head, wiping and cooling him off. I gave him a little bit of milk, which he was able to drink a little bit of. When I went to the kitchen was when I noticed that he had made a mess in my hallway, there was vomit and stool everywhere. After a couple of minutes he stood back up and he was a little shaky still and couldn’t get back on the couch so i insisted he lay on the floor and let me keep taking care of him…he started yelping again and tried to run back under the bed but i grabbed him and yelled for someone to bring me his leash so i can rush him to the vet. I live on the 5th floor and he managed to get to the 4th floor and suddenly tried to run back upstairs to my apartment yelping again, i tried to reassure him so he can calm down and laid him down in the lobby of the 4th floor. his eyes started rolling up again and throwing up…he did one really big stretched and died in my arms…can someone try to help me figure this one out?? I know he was in a lot of pain and I have been beating myself up over this for a month now. :( I’m still a little sensitive guys so please have some compassion.

My 15 year old cat's butt is bleeding?

Please do not answer with taking her to vet, because I absolutely will be doing so tomorrow morning. I am looking for info for TONIGHT whether it be good news or bad.

She is 15 years old. I noticed a splash of blood on my kitchen floor and then afterwards found dried blood spots all over the house. Her stool is bloody, but otherwise normal looking and her appetite has not changed.
The only thing I’ve noticed is that she’s been acting out but now I realize it was to get my attention :( She still purrs when happy and may be a tiny bit more lethargic…but she still plays too.
Her butthole just seems to be bleeding. And not a lot but it does seem to be a constant small amount. It’s bloodied on the outside obviously and when she sits in one place for a few minutes sometimes blood appears on the spot.
What does this sound like? I hope to god she’s okay. But will be taking her to the vet to rule everything out hopefully and to get to the root of it.
Send prayers for my kitty, please :(

My two kittens are both having diarrhea so I took them to the vet. She tested them both for worms and said that they were both worm free. I took them home and have been checking their stool and i have found roundworms in both cats stool. I got an over the counter med from wal mart and am trying that. After spending 7 at the vet I am reluctant to go back.

My question is should I find a new vet or is it common for tests for worms to come back with a false negative?

do over the counter worm meds for cats work?

Last night i saw one of my cats with a long skinny off white worm trying to wiggle out of her rear. The tip sort of came to a point… i was so traumatized she ran off before i could even think to try to take it to see what sort of worm it was. any ideas???? ive been told it could be round worm or tape worm.
Anyways….i called around and i really cant afford to go to the vet because i would need initial exam for both cats and stool samples plus whatever else they decide to prescribe.
I wanted to know if the medications from the petstore would be a worthy alternative…. i’ve heard that the medications dont work or are counterfeit but i really want to help my cat immediately!!!!
i need some clarification please!!

Could I hurt my dog by doing this?

We adopted a dog yesterday and she has had lose stool, low appetite, and throws up most of what she eats. Normally we would just say this is nerves because she has been though a lot and isn’t used to us but she is quite skinny and we want to get food in her. We’re thinking she might have worms. Can it hurt her to give her over-the-counter treatments for worms if she ends up not having any?
And also, does anyone know a good food (that is still healthy) that helps dogs gain weight?

BTW- She is a mutt (a bit of Ger. Shep.-Lab-Retri-?) and 50 lbs.
She was just at the vet 3 days ago to be spayed and vaccinated by her rescuers. They are responsible people and wouldn’t just give away a dog they knew was sick.

I just adopted a dog with worms, help?

I adopted a dog today and his paperwork says he had all his vaccinations and a dewormer on the 11th of this month. Earlier tonight I cleaned up and accident in the house and saw he had what appears to be tapeworm segments in his stool. How long does a dewormer take to work or dispel the worms? Should I buy an over the counter dewormer or wait until the vet opens on monday?

Cat health issues! Fleas and tapeworms.?

Alright.. where to begin? I live in a two bedroom apartment in florida with 2 other people.. each of us had a cat. Originally it was just the two kittens (who are now four months old) but then my other room mate brought home her mother’s cat when she moved. A few weeks later we started noticing fleas. So the kittens were dewormed and I bought a flea treatment for the kittens.. A month later now though, they have tapeworms again. I called the vet yesterday to talk about getting a shot for treatment but she informed me that it’s pretty useless before dealing with the fleas. I purchased a spray for the carpeting, furniture and baseboards of the walls..manages to apply it yesterday in the living room at least for the first time.. and vacuumed and disposed of the contents out in the dumpster in a sealed bag.. changed the litter boxes and wiped them out before refilling.. Here’s the real issue though.. my room mate (with the 3rd cat) is a horrible pet owner, really.. She barely pays any attention at all to her cat, and even though she has fleas.. has not brought her to the vet, combed her, or bathed her.. she rarely changes the litter box (I have to do it for her) .. and the damn cat isn;t fixed.. it’s a girl.. and mine are two boys 4months old.. Let’s make matters even more complicated still, she’s invited a friend of hers to stay with us for a few days now, with NO warning whatsoever.. not like I had an option to say no without being a total dick since he was already here with all his luggage and such. There just could not possible be a worse time for her to do this, really.. he seems like a polite person, but since he’s in the living room now.. I don’t know how I’m going to even begin to deal with the fleas.. The spray I have is toxic to inhale.. or absorb through skin or membranes.. so I have to lock the cats in the bedrooms to apply it in the living room.. and be sure to open the windows (we are on the second floor) to air out the apartment while it dries.. I don’t want to put off treating them any longer than I have to, since the worms in the kittens stools are about an inch.. inch and a half long! Gross, I know.. and I feel horrible about it, I really do. I want to give them a bath with flea shampoo I had purchased.. I may still do that anyway tonight.. and then apply the advantix (I think that is the brand) I got from the vet. It seemed to rid them of fleas for about 3 and a half weeks.. before I noticed them scratching again. I’m just really aggrevated.. I want so badly for her to be out of the apartment, or at the very least to be rid of her annoying, neglected siamese cat. Someone like her should not have a pet in my opinion.. there are many days she forgets to even feed her.. and so I do that too.. along with picking up after her hairballs, and cleaning the waste she leaves behind when she poos outside her box on the kitchen floor! I spend so much time catering after her animal.. and she KNOWS we have a flea problem, but she invites company over without even asking first. I don’t know if maybe I’m over-reacting.. but I don’t think I am.. I didn’t get the chance to tell her about the worms yet, I just noticed them yesterday morning.. I guess I’ll just text her that info. What should I do? I’m overwhelmed.. If I give them a bath with the flea treatment and then apply the advantix later after they have dried will it work okay? Or should I wait to do the shampoo and just apply the liquid treatment to the back of the necks on the skin? I need to at leats get them off of them so I can take them to the vet.. I don’t want to wait! But with the company here, I feel I have no option.
I just want to know if I’m going about handling this the right way.. or if there is something more I can do.. and if I should take the house guest into account here.

I have 6 puppies all together. They act like they feel ok, but for the past couple of days, they haven’t been as active. I know the correct answer would be to take them to a Vet, but my financial situation isn’t the greatest. If there are any good over the counter Puppy wormer , please let me know. Thanks!

Chinchilla Info, Please Read!?

I am reasearching about chinchillas so hopfuklly i can get one if my parents allow it but I want to make sure i know every thing i need too.

for cages, you need a 3x3x3 or bigger and there has to be shelves for jumping but not to far apart. also it would be good to have like a hommok in the middle if its tall in case it falls. everything in the cage has to be metal or wood but NO PLASTIC! you need a solid floor and the space between bars cant be to big. it needs alot of wodden toys to play with and chew on for boredom and to ware down teeth. line the cage with fleece or wood shavings (specific kind but i cant remember right now) and clean once or twice a week. they should have a wheel or saucer.
the temp must be around 70 degrees F or 22 degrees C.

it must take a dust bath every few days or so and it has to be quality dust (cant remember the names right now but start with blue)

for food you cant feed it any treat except for once in a while and it cant contain sugar. it should have unlimited timothy hay and water and good quality pellets. the water has to be bottled or filtered and NO tapwater. chage the food and water every day. water should be in glass bottle outside the cage and the food should bein a sturdy bowl.

they need about a hour for playtime outside the cage every day and the room has to be chin proof. hiding all wires, plasic, walls, and furniture you dont want chewed on.

i understand that they can be pricy to keep such as toys, food, cage and themselves. also you need to find an exotic vet but they dont reallly need to go alot and they dont need shots.they have no dander so people arent allergic but can be allergic to the dust or bedding for example.

for boys you must check for hair ring and girls can spray urine at you if mad.

you should check weight every week for a difference. if it looses more then 20 grams somthing is wrong. take to vet. if it stops eating it may have a tooth problem. if it starts biting at its fur or scratching somthing is wrong. if its ears start turning red it is getting too hot. you must have air conditioning. you also must have part of the cage with a sturdy soft bottom so theyre feet wont hurt and they can rest.

if i missed anything important could you PLEASE LET ME KNOW. i am willing to do all that if i buy one. if i showed my parents this do you think they will say yes if they dont have any other reason? i found some chinchillas and cage on the internet for a low price and looking for good vets too and money isnt a problem with my family.

does has liquid stool and vomits, we think he has worms and i am saving the dog and feel bad for him. i know i should take him to the vet but am seeing if i can find a cheap alternative. please i am trying to save the dog not be a cheap skate. previous owners did not want the dog he is 17 weeks old i will take to vet if i have to

What is Wrong With My cat?

Went to Let her in the kitchen for breakfast. she stood up and then stopped and almost fell over. Like pre seizure type stuff. She has been acting Like she is Drunk all morning. Her nose is dry and hot. and i She also Went to the bathroom and missed the litter box. and the stool is very pale almost White. is appears softer than usual but no diarrhea or anything like that. she is eating she has not lost her appetite. what do you think it could be? The local vet isn’t open Yet so i was hoping maybe somebody on here would know something.

My dog ate and vomited ibuprofen?

I got home after work today and my dog had jumped the baby gate and consumed an unknown amount of ibuprofen from a bottle on the kitchen counter. He apparently vomited it all up judging from the pile we discovered on the floor, he has a sensitive stomach and vomits on occasion anyway, but he has continued to vomit up anything he eats and he’s acting listless and groggy. I am going to take him to the vet, but I can’t afford to until tomorrow morning when I get paid. Is there anything I can do in the meantime to reduce the likelihood of him dying? He hasn’t had diarrhea or bloody vomit/stools, just vomiting (if he eats) and the grogginess.

Can I give my cat people medicine?

My cat has loose stool – my vet told me i could use an over the counter medicine for people with Loperminde (spelling, sorry). The problem is, my cat is diabetic – doesnt that medicine have sugar in it??
Well, seeing as though its Sunday, I can only call the Vets emergency line – He is on Diabetic food, so I wont change that today – Do you think he will it be ok if I wait till Monday to call the vet?
And, the vet knows all the history – shes been with us from the begining. . .
