My Rottweiler puppy is 9 weeks old and came down with Parvo 2 weeks ago. She wound up surviving it with the vet’s help, my intensive care at home. When I took her back to the vet to be re-checked last Monday she got a clean bill of health!
She has had Solid stools all last week and now yesterday and today I am noticing she is having brown diarrhea with spots of blood! but at the same time she is VERY hyper and active, eating her puppy chow on her own, playing with my cats like she always does, doesn’t look skinny and has her fat puppy body back, she also isn’t dehydrated at all, and she isn’t vomiting.
When she was sick with the Parvo, she threw up foam and mucous/water looking vomit a lot with barely any diarrhea. She also was a bag of bones in meaning she was very skinny from not eating any food what so ever, and she also was very lethargic and the only thing she would do is sleep in her bed under a blanket in the bathroom all day, everyday for 5 days straight while I was giving her Pedialite,Parvoguard,Vibactra Plus ( i researched the web and found out that these home remedies if given consistently, will beat Parvo) every hour on the hour 24 hours a day,and when she started showing interest in food, I gave her cooked white rice and boiled chicken. The first day she was sick, she was at the vet for IV medication and fluid overnight, but it got too expensive so I had to take her home and try to nurse her back to health which was tricky and touch and go, but it worked and I was over the moon happy!.. now I am getting nervous again seeing diarrhea with blood!. But I also heard from the vet, once a puppy has Parvo and gets over it, she can never get it again since they build up an immunity. I was going to get her second shot this weekend, but the vet told me to hold off until next weekend… so I am.
Why is she going backwards with her progress yesterday and today?? I don’t understand why its happening if the vet checked her up last monday and came back to the room telling us "She looks beautiful and looks like she beat the Parvo!". Her words exactly.
I was giving her Parvoguard and I stopped giving it last Tuesday, the day after the vet said she looks perfectly well. Should I start giving it to her again?
Anyone else ever deal with a few days of going backwards with Parvo (only 1 symptom) and it went away and she was fine again?
Right now she is going crazy with my cats.. running all over the kitchen with them and doing her puppy growl thinking she is their boss while they swat at her,its the cutest thing! Back when she was deathly ill she wouldn’t even as much as lift her head off her bed in the bathroom! So that is why I am confused!
If you have any advice.. PLEASE let me know right away!
Oh one more thing I had asked a question about puppies and Parvo yesterday and someone who responded asked if I was the user ATL and then they started saying rude things! I am not that person! I live in Georgia, but I am not them! I promise! I have a Rottweiler Puppy and a Boxer puppy. I just got the boxer puppy yesterday too, so another thing I am worried about is she might catch the parvo.. My husband brought her home as an early Valentines gift to me since i’ve been wanting one badly!.. So far she is fine, but I know it takes weeks for symptoms to show. I do have her away from my Rottweiler though, they haven’t touched yet.
Thanks!
