My puppy has dark stool?

My puppy has been having darker stools lately. His stool isn’t black but it’s a dark brown color and his poop is of a smaller amount then before. There are no traces of bloods or worms. He’s eating fine, drinking water regularly, and as active as can be – basically, he seems normal. Also, he goes to the bathroom less.

I switched him over to Innova Puppy. And yesterday, he jumped onto the counter and ate half a can of Spam. The stool was already dark before this incident though. (My mom feeds his table scraps occasionally. She promised she’s going to stop though.)

I’m taking him to the vet tomorrow. So my question is, how dark does a puppy’s stool have to be to be unhealthy?

His is a little lighter then the color of dark coffee, and around the color of brown coffee. I’m not sure if that makes sense so..

His stool is similar to that color.
Since the picture is in the corner, my computer views it as black until I move myself to look at it directly. So I’m just saying, his stool isn’t black.
The stool is usually solid and at the end, it gets a little soft. Usually they’re in two pieces. No I cannot see any undigested food pieces. His butt seems fine and not irritated. He goes very easily. And Innova isn’t a dark colored food.

My two kittens are both having diarrhea so I took them to the vet. She tested them both for worms and said that they were both worm free. I took them home and have been checking their stool and i have found roundworms in both cats stool. I got an over the counter med from wal mart and am trying that. After spending 7 at the vet I am reluctant to go back.

My question is should I find a new vet or is it common for tests for worms to come back with a false negative?

Could I hurt my dog by doing this?

We adopted a dog yesterday and she has had lose stool, low appetite, and throws up most of what she eats. Normally we would just say this is nerves because she has been though a lot and isn’t used to us but she is quite skinny and we want to get food in her. We’re thinking she might have worms. Can it hurt her to give her over-the-counter treatments for worms if she ends up not having any?
And also, does anyone know a good food (that is still healthy) that helps dogs gain weight?

BTW- She is a mutt (a bit of Ger. Shep.-Lab-Retri-?) and 50 lbs.
She was just at the vet 3 days ago to be spayed and vaccinated by her rescuers. They are responsible people and wouldn’t just give away a dog they knew was sick.

I just adopted a dog with worms, help?

I adopted a dog today and his paperwork says he had all his vaccinations and a dewormer on the 11th of this month. Earlier tonight I cleaned up and accident in the house and saw he had what appears to be tapeworm segments in his stool. How long does a dewormer take to work or dispel the worms? Should I buy an over the counter dewormer or wait until the vet opens on monday?

does has liquid stool and vomits, we think he has worms and i am saving the dog and feel bad for him. i know i should take him to the vet but am seeing if i can find a cheap alternative. please i am trying to save the dog not be a cheap skate. previous owners did not want the dog he is 17 weeks old i will take to vet if i have to

My kitten has diherrea what could it be from?

I have a 12 week old female calico kitten and a 10 week old turkish vandinski the calico has had the runs and soft stools since I got her a week ago but the other kitten seems fine. She was eating friskies cat food when I got her and I changed her food to iams kitten food which both kittens are eating(I am not sure if this is a good enough food?) I am thinking it might just be that she either she has a sensitive stomach and will need better food or maybe she has worms I am not sure. I think that if it’s not worms I will try to change her food to Royal Canin kitten food becuase our Chihuahua is on the same thing and I know this is a good brand… also does anyone know how much it cost to get a kitten dewormed at a vet and if they need to go in for an appointment or can I just buy the pill from the vet also I was wondering if over the counter deworming pills would work please if someone can help me on what is going on could you please let me know and let me know?
MY KITTENS DO NOT HAVE ANY MILK ONLY WATER AND I GIVE THEM FRESH WATER TWICE A DAY

My dog has been infected with what I believe are tapeworms.
They’re small rice like worms in his stool and he’s constantly rubbing his butt on the ground. I called the vet but he is unavailable until oct1st. Can I purchase over the counter medication, and is it as effective as the vet?

I took in a stray cat that had tapeworms. I took it to the vet to have it checked out, and she said it was generally healthy. The only known problem was the tapeworms that I’d noticed in its stool. She advised that I get an OTC tapeworm medicine instead of paying her high prices.

I gave the cat a tablet a week ago. I think it must still be infested because the cat is literally hungry ALL the time. As in, if I even go in the kitchen, it will run in there, meowing like crazy, making me trip, because it wants me to feed it AGAIN. It’s just not normal for a cat to eat this much.

I want to give the cat another tablet, but when should I? Should I wait a week or can I go ahead and do it today? Thanks.
I’d already checked the package, it said nothing about retesting. Yes, I treated it for fleas already. I’ve never seen a flea on it but I knew that if it had tapeworms, it has to have had fleas.
I forgot to mention that the vet didn’t think the had the other kinds of worms, but he was already treated for them anyway. She gave him that shot for free as a promotional offer.

what is wrong with my puppy?

ok, my husband and i got a full blooded siberian husky when she was 8 weeks old. had her shipped from a breeder in another state. within 72hrs of us receiving her, we took her to a vet to get checked out and make sure everything was ok. that she was a healthy puppy. come to find out she had some kind of worms. like ground worms or something that they found in her stool. we gave her the 3day medication as directed and she seemed fine. for about 2weeks she was hyper, energetic, eating regular, etc. 2 more weeks passed where her poop was soft. wasnt quite watery but wasnt hard either. that went on for about 2 more weeks and we assumed it was the dog food and changed dog foods. she is now 12 weeks old and for the past 2days she has had very watery poop. it honestly looks like she has a mustard bottle strapped to her butt that squirts out occasionally and earlier today she drank some water and ran to the kitchen and puked it right back up. is it the new dog food that is making her do this?? is it possibly parvo?? or some kind or ring worm or something?? please help we are concerned. she has a vet visit for more shots on friday and will address these concerns to the vet if they do not clear up by then.

dry dog food, i have her on one cup in the morning and one cup at night.. she is constantly hungry though and unless she is sleeping will usually beg for food. When we are gone unless kept her in her crate she finds anything around the house to eat, whether it be food from the kitchen- or if everything is put away, any other object that is within reach, edible or not. We have done a stool check with the vet before, and based on other checkups everything is normal – no history of worms, we’ve had her since a month (or less) old.. this is a good vet we’ve been taking our past two dogs to him for about 14 years now.

She is fed in the morning around 7:30 am and at night around 5:00 pm.. Maybe dinner is too late? she starts begging the minute I come home at around 3 pm until she is fed, and then sometimes after as well.. I could try to break it down 1 cup in the morning, 1/2 cup when i get home and another half at 5:30pm..
Her weight is normal, she is a small American Yellow Labrador.
there is a difference (i think) between American and English Labrador Retrievers. I have read that before numerous times on here and breeding sites.. personally, I have seen both as well and can usually tell what "style" breed it is – English Labs tend to be bred a bit shorter and stockier, blockier heads where as American Labs are generally taller, leaner, and have a more narrow or less filled out face.
and yes, my dog has as someone described; "ribs can be felt under a moderate fat cover, has an observable but not severe tummy tuck, and back has a slight narrowing before the hips.." so I guess I am feeding her properly as she does look healthy and athletic. Good answers everyone, thanks..

My puppy finished his perscription for coccidia medication a few days ago. His stool was getting firmer on the medication, but once it ran out, his poop got looser again. I took in a stool and urine sample to the vet because there was mucus in the stool, and she analyzed it and didn’t find anything. He was dewormed two weeks ago, and tomorrow will have another deworming pill, so I don’t think it’s worms. He has eaten a bit of grass and his food and water today, but nothing else as far as I know. I watch him like a hawk outside.

Anyways, just now he went into the kitchen and pooped, then under the kitchen table and pooped, and then into the living room and pooped, and then into his roomand pooped. It got looser and looser, with the last being a bit liquid-ey. He usually indicates he needs to go out by standing by the door, but this time he didnt do it.

I plan to take him to the vet tomorrow, but does anyone have any other advice? I am really worried about him.
To clarify, I am not worried about the behaviour of pooping inside, since he has been learning well since we got him. What I am concerned about is his health.

So my mom adopted this stray cat who just showed up on our ranch three months ago and would not leave. She was very very friendly with us and a beautiful cat. We found out a week ago that the cat has a major case of roundworm, at minimum, and possibly other similar parasidic diseases. She was likely eating birds and rodents before finding us. We first saw the worms on her backside and where unsure of what they were. We have never had cats. Then, we saw the worms moving in the cat’s stool and called a vet who diagnosed it as roundworm. Worm debris were likely inside the house since the cat was inside 80% of the time. Really Gross. Vet wasnt that helpful in explaing the risk to us. Anyhow, this cat would always be around us all day long, lick our hands, nap in our beds/pillows, kitchen areas etc. She would even lick my moms face and lips from time to time trying to wake her up when sleeping at night. Are we at risk for any illness or diseases (Zoonotic). If so, what should we do. This is sort of thing is freaking us out and we just had her vaccinated for the first time when bring her to vet two days ago (stupid to wait this long I know). Help please…

I ask this because My dog has a tape worm that is coming out in pieces in her stool and from her butt hole.

We found worms tonight on her butt, in her mouth, on the kitchen floor, on her dog pillow, on our couches and on our blankets. (We are currently cleaning the heck out of the house with bleach etc.)

We are further concerned because even though I live at my Mom’s house currently and I am NOT touching the dog, I am 9 months pregnant.

1.) Will the tape worm come out quickly?
2.) Will it continue to come out in HUGE pieces after she gets the medicine?
3.) Should I go live with my sister for the time being because I am 9 months pregnant?

Thank you in advance

*It’s totally yucky, Don’t allow your dog to eat dead rabbit carcasses*

Why doesn’t my cat clean her butt?

My cat is a very clean cat. She is always cleaning herself but two days ago I noticed that she had dry poop hanging from her behind. I try to take it off with a warm wet napkin but it was to hard to do so I gave her a shower. Today her behind was completely covered in poop. I cleaned her again and eventhough she doesn’t like it and does everything to run away I did it. Why does she have poop on her behind. I had never had this problem with her. Is she not cleaning herself down there or is she sick. My cat is not fat. Last time I took her to the vet she weighed 7 lb and they did not tell us she is overweight. Is not a matter of she not being able to reach either because I’ve seen her clean herself there and around her bum. Is she being lazy. Her litter is always clean. Should I take her to the vet. She had worms before but was dewormed. I dewormed her last month. We have not seen any since.

For me this is a huge problem because she likes to climb our furniture and kitchen table. She also likes to sleep in our beds.

Puppy Problems… HELP!!!?

Our new puppy (who has been with us for 2 weeks) is a pain in our butts,(husband and I), she has runny stools (she is going to the vet today, I know she has worms) and she has actually pooped on our bed. So we make her sleep in the kitchen with a baby gate up with access to food and water and toys. Problem- SHE WON’T SLEEP and CRIES ALL NIGHT LONG. We have tried a ticking clock, puppy heated bed, white noise, dog silent trainer, water bottle, and a can with pennies in it…

Our neighbors are fed up, my husband and I are on the verge of a meltdown (I may be pregnant, and he works early and needs sleep and s do I)

We have a pug and poodle now who have always been angels, never had this problem because they knew that the bed is for sleeping and not for pooping.

The puppy has also ruined out house with her runny poop…

What would you do? She is on the verge on getting my husband and I to fight and snapp at each other,

PLEASE HELP ME! I’m at a loss…
