we have ants randomly everywhere…dining room, upstairs bedrooms and hallway, but not in kitchen?

We have walnut hardwood floor in dining room and I have killed them around the baseboards, climbing up furniture and doorways….we have carpet in hall and some of the bedrooms and I have killed them running thru the carpet in there. I cannot figure out where they are coming from, as they are on 2 levels of the house, so I dont know hopw to kill them. we have animals and samll kids, so we have to be careful. PLEASE HELP! What do you do when you cant find a path or source?

It’s getting into the hot time of the year. Ants come in for 2 main reasons. Cool air and availability of food and water sources. You can put ant bait out in the lawn but you can’t directly kill the nest. I’ve seen some nests so large (both in size and depth) that you would have to dig up your entire lot…and just maybe find the Queen, maybe.

Go to the nearest mexican or latin american or thai grocery store you can find. Buy the hottest dried chilis you can find (on the heat scale of 1-100, 50 or above.). While wearing rubber gloves and a breathing mask, in a blender grind them to a fine fine powder. Sieve out any particles and fill a cheap Dollar Store type plastic catsup bottle. Now, go around the house and study the ants. Find any crack or crevase an ant is coming out of and gently puff a fine spray of the Chili powder. Go around the foundation of the house and thoroughly spray the area. If you have a basement, do the basement. If you have a crawl space, do the inside of all walls, and around all pillars.

Get a crack and crevase sealer, then following instructions do electrical outlets, and around all pipes and ducts wherever the enter or exit a wall. (this will stop crawly things and heat loss too.)

Watch, and redo the cracks in you home as necessary, and the foundation of your home every time the chili you put out gets wet (rain or sprinklers)

I have asthma and can’t have anything to do with chemicals. I have used this method for years and years.

A Word About Choosing Bar Stools

Finding and choosing the right kind of Bar Stools or counter stools for your bar, home or your kitchen is an important part choice, as many different sizes, materials, finishes and colors.

Of course, seating comfortably will be different for everyone, but if you sit and see the foot rest height is good for you, it will probably do for most. Unless you are getting custom bar stools made for you, you have to get them with the foot rests as they are.
Take your measurements with you when you go shopping and know the heights of the counter or bar surface and underside and ask for help from the salesperson if you are not sure of what sizes to get.
If you purchase adjustable barstools, where you can raise or lower the height of the stool itself, then it's easier to allow the user to adjust to find the right height for the most comfort while sitting. This is ideal if you want to use the stools for different places in your home, from the kitchen counter to the home bar or a kitchen island, for example. Most brands and makers of kitchen and bar stools that are adjustable allow about 10 to 15 inches, which can accommodate almost anyone.
