What color to paint my walls?
My kitchen and living room Connect through a big bar opening in the wall. I was thinking of doing the kitchen some shade of green that will go with the stainless steel Appliances and honey wood cabinets. In my living room I have Chocolate brown Curtains that I love, but I am unsure of what colors to paint the walls. My couches are light tan, and most other furniture is black With the kitchen being green I feel the living room being green would be too much. I was thinking light powder blue, but the carpet we currently have is about that color, so it may again be too much. We are however going to be upgrading to honey colored wood flooring within a year. So I need a color that will work for now as well as when we change to wood flooring.

most of your statement has the colors brown and tan in it except the idea of green. Judging from what you described I would suggest a more neutral color like maybe coffee or caramel that would both enhance the wood grain of your future flooring and the brown of your curtains as well as the honey cabinets in your kitchen. Stay in the same family and use accents of colors like green pillows etc.
A shade or two darker green than the kitchen to connect the two rooms.
LILAC!!!
or any other light shade of purple!
you absolutely can continue with the green into your living room. And it won’t be too much, because you have different color schemes in furnishing and accessories. Just the opposite – continuing with the green will create a feeling of flow.
If you want to learn how to coordinate colors together, here’s a good tutorial for you:

I think a very light green or blue would look great. If you’re afraid that there’s too much going on. Just a hint of color will still give it that special touch. I think these colors will compliment your light cabinets and even the stainless steel. Maybe something like this?
